For many, this should have been the Champions League final last season. In-form Barcelona and PSG clash in a game that can't be dull.

This is a special encounter on so many levels. There are plenty of connections between the two sides, starting with PSG's manager, Luis Enrique, a former player and manager of Barcelona, and fresh Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele, who played for the Catalonian giants before joining Paris. This game screams entertainment, and I believe an alert for a Champions League classic can easily be triggered.

Here are my Barcelona v PSG predictions and free betting picks for Wednesday, October 1.

Barcelona vs PSG picks and predictions

My Barcelona vs PSG best bet: Over 3.5 goals (-105 at Sports Interaction)

There have been Over 3.5 goals in five of Barcelona's last six UCL matches against Paris Saint-Germain, with both squads hitting the scoreboard in each of their last five encounters.

Barcelona has scored at least three goals itself in five of seven club games this season. PSG hasn't been as flamboyant as they were last season, but they still put four past Atalanta in the first round of games of the Champions League main round. Apart from that, they were happy with 1-0 or 2-0 wins in the French Ligue 1, and they also lost the French super derby against Marseille 1-0.

As the games go by, PSG should look stronger and stronger. They had a short holiday after the Club World Cup, where they also reached the final, unexpectedly losing to Chelsea 3-0. However, a game like the one against Barcelona can easily light the flame inside the PSG locker room. This should be prime football entertainment, and I expect both sides to live up to the hype created around this game.

Barcelona vs PSG same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5 goals

Over 9.5 corners

Robert Lewandowski 2+ shots on target

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia 1+ shots on target

Both teams have fantastic wide players, and there should be much action around the corner line on Wednesday evening in Barcelona. Games involving Barcelona this season average 8.86 corners, while PSG are just below at 8.17. But PSG's away matches average 9.67 corners, and I believe they will go over 9.5 when they meet Barcelona as well.

To round up a decent +525 return, I'm adding some attacking spice to my SGP. I'll have Barcelona's star attacker, Robert Lewandowski, shooting on target twice and PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia once. Lewandowski averages 1.8 shots on target per game across his career in both the Bundesliga and LaLiga, while his Champions League numbers are even better, at 1.87 per match. Kvaratskhelia currently stands at 0.88 shots on target this season. It's just a matter of concentration for him, as his total shots per 90 minutes are now at 2.63.
