The battle to finish second in the Premier League heats up. Newcastle could take a decisive lead should they win in North London against Arsenal.

The Gunners have lost pace in the final rounds of the campaign, allowing Newcastle, Chelsea, Villa, and City to close the gap. Now, everything is there to play for, as only two points separate second-placed Arsenal from sixth in the table Man. City.

I believe Arsenal vs. Newcastle will be a football festival. See why in my Arsenal vs. Newcastle predictions and free soccer picks for Sunday, May 18.

Premier League predictions for Arsenal vs Newcastle

My Arsenal vs Newcastle best bet: Over 2.5 goals (-128 at Betano)

Newcastle have kept a clean sheet in six of their last eight matches against Arsenal in all competitions. It will be hard to see one more added to the list on Sunday afternoon. If Newcastle's bid to finish second in the league is to be taken seriously, they must win at the Emirates.

There should be lots of space for Arsenal's explosive attacking flanks.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in six of Arsenal's last seven games. Newcastle saw more than 2.5 goals hitting the net in seven of their previous nine games. Arsenal came from two goals behind to draw against Liverpool at Anfield last week.

They have only won once in their last six Premier League matches, allowing a hungry pack of quality rivals to come close.

Newcastle won 2-0 at the Emirates in January, in the League Cup semifinals' first leg, eventually progressing with a 4-0 scoreline on aggregate, securing the trophy at Liverpool's expense.

Arsenal will be able to count on Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard, which is a significant boost for manager Mikel Arteta's tactical plan. Newcastle's Alexander Isak is the danger man in Newcastle's line-up, but Anthony Gordon should keep Arsenal's defenders on their toes as well.

Gordon scored both home and away in the League Cup confrontation I mentioned earlier. At -128 via Betano, I'll grab the Over 2.5 goals in this game, avoiding complications with the moneyline.

Arsenal vs Newcastle same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 2.5 goals

Alexander Isak 2+ shots on target

Anthony Gordon 1+ shots on target

Newcastle need to win if they want to be frontrunners in the battle for the second place in the Premier League table. They will be able to keep their cards ahead of the last round only if they manage to win at the Emirates. I expect loads of attacking from Newcastle.

Isak averages 1.3 shots on target per game, while Gordon stands at 1.6. The Swedish striker scored in three of Newcastle's last five games. In total, he has 27 goals in all competitions this season, so I believe he is well-equipped to make Arsenal suffer as well.

Gordon delivered over both legs in the League Cup semi-finals in front of Arsenal, proving instrumental for Newcastle's qualification. I will limit myself to having Gordon shooting on target at least once, even though another one of his goals past the Gunners would have made my return much higher.

Those with more courage should be aware that including Gordon as an anytime goalscorer vs. Arsenal would take this SGP profits to +2700.
