Dont be so quick to take indy, i mean theyre a great team but the saints are bitter from last year. The Saints put up a good fight here and keep it close.

Dont be so quick to take indy, i mean theyre a great team but the saints are bitter from last year. The Saints put up a good fight here and keep it close.
Very few offenses are explosive enough to keep pace with Indy at home..however New Orleans in one of them...
When Indy has the ball, they will face two quality edge rushers in Smith and Grant going against a rookie LT (Ugoh) and a RT (Diem) who is frankly better suited to play left guard...with Brian Simmons now their starting MLB, the Saints have a quality (if aging) signal caller who brings toughness and leadership...Fujita started 16 regular season games last year and Shanle 15 so they have some experience at OLB as well...for all the talk of how horrible their secondary is, keep in mind that one of their corners is the same guy who started 20 games for the World Champs last year (Jason David) and Mike McKenzie is not elite but he is very good...both Josh Bullocks and Roman Harper are up-and-coming second round picks who could form a very solid safety tandem with their athleticism and speed...the third CB will be veteran Jason Craft...we all know Indy's offense and the only significant changes are Glenn retiring, Rhodes in Oakland and rookie Gonzales being the 3rd (or 4th) WR...the Saints improved their defensive personnel in the off-season and I think the additions of David, Simmons and 3rd round pick Young will pay off in the near future...
When the Saints have the ball, that's when the fun begins...Brees makes it all happen and he has an embarrassment of riches in offensive firepower...Deuce's power and toughness and Bush's electrifying speed make them the most dangerous 1-2 punch in the league ...on any given play, either one can take it to the house....Colston was runner-up in rookie MVP voting (2nd to Vince Young) and can flat-out play...Henderson has finally caught on and he has speed and play-making ability as well...rookie Meachem will give teams fit with his size, speed and agility (particularly in the slot and over the middle)...for you 49er fans, you will remember that a few years back Eric Johnson was one of the finest pass-catching TE's in the league...injuries have nagged him the past few years but he has the route-running skills and hands to give the Saints the vertical stretch down the seam they lacked with Conwell...and if you think the Saints don't have a quality fullback and/or don't know how to utilize one, check the stats in their game against the Cowboys last year...the Saints offensive line remains intact from a year ago and they are a good group...
The Colts defense will face major hurdles stopping New Orleans...to begin with, Freeney will have to deal with massive LT Brown (who is no rookie unlike Ugoh)...Klecko will not be the solid run plugger that McFarland was...Corey Simon was cut...WLB Cato June was underrated and Freddy Keiaho is unproven (no starts last year)...as noted above Jason Davis is now a New Orleans Saint... and the other CB (Nick Harper) plays for the Titans these days...in their place are Marlin Jackson (8 starts last year) and Kelvin Hayden (1 start last year)...gee, ya think Sean Payton is going to test these guys??...the Colts safeties are solid with Sanders and Bethea but the with the Cover 2 system they play the middle of the field will be open all day because both safeties will have to respect the deep speed of the Saints skill players...the Cols also lost some quality back-up and nickle & dime package players lke LB Gardner, S Doss and DT Reagor...
I like New Orleans here...I love getting six points and think they may even win the game..they are a Dome team on the road playing in a Dome...the game opened up four weeks ago at Indy -6.5 and a total of 49.5...it now stands Indy -6 and 51.5...My picks are:
New Orleans +6 (game)
New Orleans +12 (six-pont teaser)
New Orleans ML (small play - gotta respect the Champs at home)
Anyone who knows me knows I don't pick totals so I have no thoughts there...I would guess it's going to be a shoot-out so over 51.5 makes the most sense but I highly doubt I will touch this total...
Good luck, men...go make that cheese!

Scorpio.....I am completely on board with you!! I am LOVING NO +6 and think they could win outright. I can't believer the line. The Indy Colts are not the same team they were during the SB, losing many players.

best of luck this season

Great points, and best of luck this year. Of course being a Colts fan I am biased, and will bet on them no matter what. However I don't think that the Colts losses during the off season will have affect on them. Harper and June were great players, but look what Marlin Jackson did during the post season after Harper was injured? They went from almost last to almost first in Total D. Freeney and Mathis will have a field day at home. And to top it all, Colts are 8-0 at home during reg season. Yes 6 pts is a lot for these two teams of massive offensive callibur, maybe teased or something. Best of luck all, in the bank

i will wait up until gametime, and i will take new orleans +8.5 or 9, meaning a 2.5 point buy. I don't like the total as it is kind of in the middle, and i think it's not worth my time. At the same time, i would probably take the 1st quarter over, because Peyton is a notoriously fast starter, and New Orleans is not a slouch either for fast starts

blueglass..I do not think you can compare last years' play-off team with this one...it's a new year with new players...
Also, the 2006 play-off teams of KC, BM, NE and Chicago simply do not have the offensive weapons and deep speed playmakers that the 2007 NO Saints do...I respect what the Colts defense did against these teams last year in the play-offs...but how many of those teams were dangerous offenses like New Orleans?.. Coach Payton's offensive system is a different kettle of fish and the Cover 2 system the Colts defense plays can be a major liabilty against a team of "track stars" at the skill positions like the Saints have...
From my perspective, replacing a Pro Bowl LT like Tarik Glenn with an unproven rookie is a major loss (particularly going against 2 speed rushers like Smith and Grant in his first real game)...losing Booger McFarland is a serious blow...Keiaho will have difficulty replacing Cato June..I will agree that Jackson did a nice job for Harper but you didn't mention inexperienced Kelvin Hayden taking Jason David's spot...and Reagor, Doss, Gardner, and Dominic Rhodes all made nice contributions during the course of the year...
Good luck betting on your team...I do not have a favorite team...I only root for the team I have money on...and on Thursday night I will be a Saints fan for about three hours or so!
Good luck with all your plays!

More good pts, definetely a loss losing Booger and Glenn. However to answer how the Colts play against an equally offensive team, look how they beat down on the Bengals last year, 34-16. Now I wouldn't say that Cincy has as much of an explosive offense as the the Saints, but it's pretty good. Hey how bout them Tigers??? Take them Noles down!!!

They are NOT equally offensive teams in terms of X's and O's (or in personnel for that matter)...the system Coach Bratkowski runs is nothing like what Coach Payton runs in run blocking schemes, pass protection, routes that the RB's, TE"s and WR's run, etc etc....and once again - you are comparing a team to last year to a team to this year...as I recall, the Bengals did not even make the play-offs last year...much less play in a Championship Game...and I am still waiting to hear how Kelvin Hayden is going to replace a solid player like Jason David (who will be wearing Black and Gold in this one)...gee, ya think he might have told the NO Coaches a few things about the Indy playbook??
Not trying to get into it with you...let's end it here...but it's no longer 2006 and what happened last year simply doesn't count anymore...and - from my perspective - having good solid experienced players makes all the difference between winning and losing
