Lightning vs Avalanche Prediction, Picks & Same-Game Parlay for Tonight’s NHL Game

This has the makings of a coin flip between two surging teams. We're taking the underdog visitors because the plus-money pricetag is more appealing, especially when the Lightning have the better goalie in Andrei Vasilevskiy.

The second game of tonight's TNT doubleheader features the Colorado Avalanche hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa enters in dominant form, winning each of its past five games, and my Lightning vs. Avalanche predictions expect this trend to continue.

Read on for my NHL picks for Tuesday, November 4.

Lightning vs Avalanche prediction

Lightning vs Avalanche Best bet: Lightning moneyline (+125)

Dominant both offensively and defensively, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche each rank among the Top 6 in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) and expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). They are the only teams in the NHL that hold this distinction.

Considering that these teams are neck and neck near the top of the league in expected goal differential per 60 minutes, the value in this coin flip goes to whichever side happens to be priced as the underdog. In this case, the Lightning.

However, there’s another reason to like Tampa Bay in this matchup: goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Vasilevskiy has found his rhythm, surrendering two or fewer goals in each of his past three starts. He is 3-0 over that stretch with a .933 save percentage and 1.31 goals-against average.

That success is likely to continue against the Avalanche, a team he has dominated over the past few years. In the past six meetings, Vasilevskiy is 5-1 with a .931 save percentage and 2.15 goals-against average.

Lightning vs Avalanche same-game parlay

Anthony Cirelli has logged four goals during this five-game win streak, and I like him to find twine again tonight.

Meanwhile, defenseman Victor Hedman continues to log big minutes and generate scoring chances, as evidenced by the fact that he has assisted on three of Cirelli’s four goals during this stretch.
