Marco Rossi has walked into even more usage with the Vancouver Canucks, playing on the top line and No. 1 power play unit.

My Canucks vs. Bruins predictions see Rossi taking advantage of the added responsibility and producing his first point since the trade.

Let’s break down my NHL picks for Saturday, December 20.

Canucks vs Bruins prediction

Canucks vs Bruins best bet: Marco Rossi Over 0.5 points (+105)

Marco Rossi has failed to record a point through his first three games with the Vancouver Canucks as he adjusts to new linemates, systems, and everything that comes with changing homes in-season.

Given Rossi’s excellent track record — he has 73 points over his last 102 regular-season games — we shouldn’t expect the dry spell to last.

There’s no doubt Rossi is a quality Top-6 forward, and he will be given every opportunity to produce with the Canucks, where he should see even more usage than he’s accustomed to.

Rossi is centering Brock Boeser and Conor Garland on the top line. Those are the two Canucks wingers with the best track record of production.

He is also skating on the No. 1 power play, which has instantly clicked with Rossi and Zeev Buium claiming spots.

The Canucks have scored three goals on nine power play opportunities through the first three games of Rossi’s tenure. While he didn’t factor in on the scoresheet, that’ll change if the puck keeps going in.

The Boston Bruins are generally considered a defense-first team, but their numbers of late leave a lot to be desired.

The Bruins sit dead last in expected goals against at 5-on-5 in the previous 10 games. They have also conceded a power play goal in five straight.

Canucks vs Bruins same-game parlay

Skating on the same line and power play unit, there is an excellent correlation between Rossi and Brock Boeser. Rossi is accustomed to playing with high-end finishers like Matthew Boldy or Kirill Kaprizov and knows how to get shooters the puck in dangerous spaces.

David Pastrnak is one of the league’s most reliable shot-generators and has piled up the looks at home all year. His production has ramped up further when rested, recording 4+ shots in seven of 11 home games following a day off.
