Bruins vs Islanders Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Bruins Bully Isles

The Boston Bruins continue to be the cream of the crop in the NHL, while the New York Islanders are slowly sinking down the standings. Chalk-players should rejoice in this one, as our NHL picks outline.

The New York Islanders had what was arguably their worst loss of the season on Monday night after they let a 3-0 lead slip away on home ice against the Washington Capitals.

Meanwhile, the Boston Bruins are still the best team in the NHL, and they come into this game having won six out of their last seven contests.

The Islanders have now lost five of their last six, and they will have their work cut out for them tonight according to our NHL picks and predictions.

Bruins vs Islanders picks and predictions

The New York Islanders may have put three goals on the board on Monday night, but this team is struggling to score at a consistent rate this season. The fact that they are going up against the best defensive team in the NHL tells me that those struggles should continue tonight. The Islanders have only scored 10 goals in their last six games.

The Boston Bruins, on the other hand, are having quite the opposite situation going on. The B’s have scored a combined 26 goals in their last six games, so they enter this contest red-hot as of late. Jeremy Swayman will be the likely starter for this tilt since the Bruins are playing the Rangers on Thursday night, and will probably leave Linus Ullmark for that game.

Swayman has been just as good as Ilya Sorokin this season, so it’s not like the Islanders really have that much of a goaltending advantage. When it comes down to it, the Bruins are simply a much better team in all aspects of the game.

David Pastrnak continues to be on a tear this season, as he has 35 goals in 43 games, but he has 10 goals in his last six. He will continue to put his team on his back and help get them a win in regulation tonight on Long Island.

My best bet: Bruins three-way (-110 at BetMGM)

Bruins vs Islanders moneyline analysis

The biggest concern for the Islanders right now is that their best players aren’t performing. New York is 12-0-0 when Brock Nelson scores a goal, but he has gone 13 straight games without scoring. It is clear that the Isles go as Nelson goes, and he needs to step it up and find his scoring touch.

The Bruins have been outstanding in their defensive zone lately, only giving up eight goals in their last six games, and they are going to make life hell on the Islanders tonight.

The B’s have been the best defensive team in the league by a mile this season, allowing 2.12 goals against per game while also having the best penalty kill, which is at a 86.2%. The Islanders are averaging 3.02 goals per game, and their power play is 27th, converting at a 17.8% clip.

This is the Bruins' game to lose.

Bruins vs Islanders Over/Under analysis

There has been a ton of goal scoring in the NHL this season, and I continue to think that setting the Over/Under at 5.5 is too low, no matter which teams are playing.

With the way the Bruins have been playing, I wouldn’t be surprised if they hit this Over on their own. They are so incredibly talented offensively, and so many teams have a hard time slowing them down. The Islanders aren’t that poor in their defensive end, but the Bruins are definitely that good in the offensive zone.

Swayman and Sorokin are both good goaltenders, but both teams are averaging more than three expected goals per game, so they each have the ability to fill the net. I think this Over will hit.
