Pick #1: Matthew Tkachuk Over 0.5 assists
Matthew Tkachuk is an assist target to 56%.
Tkachuk started the year with one helper over his first five games but has gone nuclear since Brady Tkachuk joined him on the top line.
Matthew has produced 15 assists over nine games with Brady as his running mate, including six assists.
Skating with Brady and Sam Bennett, Matthew is playing second fiddle as a shooter. Those are Florida’s top two shot generators, and Matthew’s job is to get them the puck in good spots.
The Detroit Red Wings are a solid defensive team, but slowing down this trio at 5-on-5 is a difficult task for anybody. The Red Wings also sit 26th in goals against per 60 on the penalty kill, and Tkachuk has 10 power-play assists.
- Matchup: Red Wings vs. Panthers
- Time: 7 p.m. ET
- Location: Amerant Bank Arena, Florida
- TV: SN+, ESPN+
Pick #2: Jack Eichel Over 2.5 shots
I’m on Jack Eichel for 3+ shots to 56%.
He has one shot over his last three games and still leads the Vegas Golden Knights in shots on goal. He is their best volume shooter, and this is a sneaky-good spot to let it fly.
The Boston Bruins rank 10th in shots-on-goal pace at 5-on-5 over the last 10 games, well above 26th-placed Vegas. That should add a little more volume to the game.
Eichel is also a local guy who played his college hockey at Boston University. This matchup matters to him, and his track record shows just that.
He has recorded four or more shots on goal in four of the last five games against Boston, and generated 22 attempts over two meetings last season.
- Matchup: Golden Knights vs. Bruins
- Time: 7 p.m. ET
- Location: TD Garden, Boston
- TV: SN+, NHL Network
Pick #3: Charlie McAvoy Over 0.5 points
Charlie McAvoy is playable for a point to 58%.
He is a driving force offensively from the backend and has helped the Bruins unlock a different level since returning to the lineup.
They are generating 3.42 expected goals per 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play during his minutes, which is the top rate of anybody on the roster.
He also quarterbacks the top power play and has exposure to all of the team’s best offensive weapons.
McAvoy had a point in 80% of Boston’s games last year with a 6.5 total, and 14 of 17 at home (82%).
