The Florida Panthers are looking to put a 3-0 chokehold on the Carolina Hurricanes as this series shifts to South Florida. It's hard to think that the Hurricanes will just roll over, but it might be even harder to imagine them beating this Panthers team that is absolutely rolling right now.
The Hurricanes have now lost 14 consecutive games in the conference finals, and it's reaching the point where they might be cursed. Florida has been smothering Carolina, and of course, the Hurricanes will make some adjustments, but I'm not quite sure they have the answers to beat the home team.
Let's dive into this series as we seek out goal scorers in Game 3 with my May 24 NHL prop picks.
NHL anytime goalscorer picks for Hurricanes vs Panthers Game 3
Seth Jarvis (+220)
Carter Verhaeghe (+240)
Anton Lundell (+400)
Hurricanes vs Panthers anytime goalscorer props for tonight
Seth Jarvis (+220 at Sports Interaction)
The Carolina Hurricanes need to be better, there's no other way to say it. They look intimidated, and I'm not sure if they're intimidated by the moment or by the opponent, but they have looked like a shell of themselves in the first two games of this series.
Rod Brind'Amour said that Seth Jarvis is fine after leaving Game 2 early, and he is one of the guys that the Hurricanes will look to for a big play or something that can shift the momentum of this series. Before Game 2, Jarvis had been on a five-game point streak, but he was held off the scoresheet and wasn't even able to record a shot on goal. That said, in Game 1 he was one of the better players for the Hurricanes up front, and in Game 3 there will be no excuses. Jarvis currently leads the team with 12 points in 12 games, but has scored four goals throughout the playoffs.
Jarvis hasn't found the back of the net in this series yet, and he needs to make his mark tonight.
Carter Verhaeghe (+240 at Sports Interaction)
Is there a single player that has stepped up more in the past three years, come playoff time, than Carter Verhaeghe? Verhaeghe is tied for the team lead in points right now with 13 in 14 games played, and he has been consistent. Verhaeghe is coming off of a three-assist game, but he is known more for his goal scoring rather than his playmaking.
Verhaeghe's line with Sam Bennett and Matthew Tkachuk is one of the most impactful lines that we have seen over the years, and as talented as those two are, it's Verhaeghe who is looked at to be the guy who finishes on that line. That said, in his last five games, he only has one goal, which was the opening goal of this series, but in the playoffs, he has found the back of the net five times.
Verhaeghe is dangerous, and with how good his line has been, he should be able to find some twine tonight.
Anton Lundell (+400 at Sports Interaction)
Anton Lundell has been quiet on the scoresheet in the first two games of this series, but he has been loud through the entire playoffs to this point. Much like Verhaeghe's line, Lundell's line has been the true difference maker for this Florida Panthers team and it's success. Lundell plays alongside Brad Marchand and Eetu Luostarinen, and all three of them have double digits in points already in this postseason.
Lundell has 10 points through 14 games but has only scored one goal in his last seven contests. That isn't for a lack of scoring chances. Lundell's line was the best line in the series against the Maple Leafs, and if the Panthers are going to close this series out as soon as they'd like, it's these three who can be the x-factor.
Lundell has established himself as one of the best forwards on this Panthers team, to the point where they even call him "Baby Barkov", which is quite the compliment. You know his line will generate chances tonight, perhaps he can put one of those chances in the back of the net.
