The Tennessee Titans will hope to break a four-game losing streak as they host the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon.

Tennessee hasn’t looked competitive on either side of the ball, and I’m taking Houston to cover this week in my Texans vs. Titans predictions.

Texans vs Titans prediction

Texans vs Titans Best bet: Texans -5.5 (-120)

Sometimes it can be tough to diagnose exactly what’s wrong with a team. That’s not the case for the Tennessee Titans, who have been awful on both sides of the ball.

Much has been made of the struggles of rookie quarterback Cam Ward. The former Miami Hurricanes star and No. 1 overall pick has just five touchdown passes and 1,760 yards through the air in his first nine NFL games, and has thrown six interceptions as well – numbers that will never get a team many wins at this level.

But the defense has struggled, too. Tennessee is allowing 28.6 ppg and 6.1 yards per play, both of which rank near the bottom of the league.

The Houston Texans have simply been much better in all aspects of the game. We all know that the Texans can play defense — they are allowing just 16.7 ppg, the best mark in the NFL — but the offense isn’t just along for the ride. Even with CJ Stroud in the concussion protocol, Davis Mills has been effective behind center in the backup role, throwing for two touchdowns and running for another in the fourth quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

The Stroud injury is probably why the line on this game is relatively small, but this shouldn’t be a one-score game. I’m taking the Texans to cover on the road.

Texans vs Titans same-game parlay

While a lot of attention in Tennessee has been on Cam Ward’s struggles at quarterback, the Titans have been awful on defense, allowing 28.6 ppg. I’m taking the Over in my SGP, and will also bet on Nick Chubb to find the endzone against a defense allowing 4.8 yards per run this year.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
