The Panthers and Falcons are both searching for their first win of 2026, and our early Week 2 picks back Atlanta and a potentially high-scoring NFC South showdown.

After having polar-opposite opening games, the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons both look to get their first win of 2026 in a Week 2 showdown in Atlanta.

My early Panthers vs. Falcons predictions and NFL picks like the Falcons’ chances of getting that done.

The Panthers open the week as slight favorites as the Falcons wait to see if quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be back for the 1 p.m. ET Sunday kickoff on FOX.

Early Panthers vs Falcons spread pick: Falcons +1.5

Kalshi probability: 51%

Tua Tagovailoa, the centerpiece of the Atlanta Falcons' offseason makeover, suffered a late-week oblique injury and sat out the opener. If he returns, the line will shift toward Atlanta. I’d stick with them to -1.5 and up to a 55% probability.

The Falcons couldn’t muster much offense in a rock fight with the Steelers. Cooper Rush threw for just 53 yards to wide receivers and had two interceptions, including the game-losing pick-six. Tagovailoa’s return will boost the Falcons, as will a Carolina Panthers defense that gave up an NFL opening-game record 59 points to the Bears.

The Panthers’ inability to stop the run plays into Atlanta’s strength. Bijan Robinson had 173 combined yards from scrimmage. Robinson forced 12 missed tackles and averaged 4.7 yards after contact.

Early Panthers vs Falcons total pick: Over 43.5

Kalshi probability: 51%

Like the spread, this will shift when there’s more certainty about Tagovailoa’s status. I’d stay Over until 45.5 and up to 55%.

The Panthers answered most of the questions about the offense in the opener as they scored 39 points in a losing effort. Bryce Young had a career day with 361 yards and three scores. Jalen Coker added more evidence that he’s an NFL starting receiver after a long, winding road to the job. Carolina’s patchwork line was also able to protect the quarterback and clear space for the run game.

When Atlanta has the ball, the Falcons will be facing a Panthers defense that allowed a pair of 100-yard rushers and a 7.5-yards-per-carry average, along with a half-dozen rushing scores.

Robinson has loved seeing the Panthers run defense twice a season. In six career games against the Panthers, he has a 5.3-yards-per-carry average and gains 85 yards per game. That’s improved to 5.6 YPC and 110 per game in the last two years.
