After 18 seasons under John Harbaugh, the Baltimore Ravens go in a new direction starting Saturday night. Baltimore plays its first preseason game, against the visiting Philadelphia Eagles, under first-year coach Jesse Minter.

Who will win Eagles vs Ravens: Philadelphia Eagles
Under Harbaugh, the Baltimore Ravens won an NFL 24 straight preseason games, from 2016 to 2023 and were 48-16 overall. Minter has exactly one game of experience as head coach—as an interim coach at Michigan, when Harbaugh’s brother Jim was suspended.
New NFL coaches generally struggle in their first preseason. The current roster of 32 NFL head coaches are 294-299, .496 in preseason games but were 34-52, .395 in their first preseasons. Throw in an offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle, who has never called his own plays before, and that’s quite a bit of inexperience at the top of the staff.
The Philadelphia Eagles are installing a new offensive scheme, so, while quarterback Jalen Hurts and RB Saquon Barkley probably won’t play, we could see the receivers and offensive line put in more time than usual as they get reps in the system against another team.
Eagles vs Ravens Over/Under pick: Under 36.5
Both teams have new offensive coordinators and offensive line coaches. Baltimore has rebuilt its line. We’ll likely see Emery Jones, Carson Vinson (combined 12 NFL games and no starts) and undrafted Corey Bullock (16 games no starts) very early for the Ravens, which spells trouble for the offense. With tight end Mark Andrews sitting out, the line won’t get much help from that position, either.
Philadelphia saw its wide receiver position group lose much of its depth and star power over the offseason. While the offensive line starters are set, the backup spots are still in flux. Plus, with Hurts likely sitting, the quarterback position will be manned this game by the uninspiring trio of Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee and Cole Payton.
The Ravens added to the pass rush in free agency and the draft, looking to improve a unit that was 20th in the NFL in EPA allowed on passes.
