Our expert picks like the Los Angeles Rams to get the best of Kansas City. The Chiefs may have the best starting quarterback, but a better overall rotation gives L.A. the edge.

The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs open their preseason schedules Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium, with NFL Network carrying the 4 p.m. ET kickoff.

Kansas City is a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 36.5, while Kalshi gives the Chiefs a 54% probability to win. I'm taking the points with a Los Angeles quarterback rotation led by Stetson Bennett IV and first-round rookie Ty Simpson.

Read on for our Rams vs Chiefs predictions and NFL picks for Saturday, Aug. 15.

 TOP PICK

Who will win Rams vs Chiefs: Rams moneyline (45%)

Kalshi probability: 51%

As was the leading reason for our easy cash on the Los Angeles Chargers moneyline on Thursday, I'm on the Los Angeles Rams' moneyline Saturday because of their quarterback rotation.

Stetson Bennett will get the start for L.A., and there's been a lot to like from the glimpses he's given us. While he did throw two interceptions in the Rams' joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys, Bennett still received strong reviews from teammates, with Blake Corum noting he's "taken a big leap" in the offseason. He also completed 68.8% of his pass attempts for 512 yards, five touchdowns, and a 105.7 passer rating last preseason. After Bennett, the Rams will turn to rookie Ty Simpson, whom my individual projections rate quite highly.

The Kansas City Chiefs willl start Justin Fields before moving to seventh-round rookie Garrett Nussmeier and Chris Oladokun. Los Angeles should maintain a higher level of quarterback play deeper into the game.

 TOP PICK
Rams vs Chiefs Over/Under pick: Over 36.5 (50%)

Kalshi probability: 50%

This quarterback group possesses enough playmaking ability to clear a low total. I noted Bennett's exploits last preseason, and Simpson finished his lone campaign as Alabama's starter with 30 total touchdowns.

Kansas City also has multiple ways to generate points, too. Fields has rushed for 2,892 yards and 23 touchdowns in his NFL career, while Nussmeier left LSU with 7,699 passing yards and 52 touchdowns. Hitting the Over on this low total doesn't require either offense to operate efficiently for four quarters. It requires a few explosive possessions from four capable quarterbacks.

Scrambling ability from a passer should be really valued in the preseason because there are so many offensive uncertainties, but both teams boast athleticism under center.
