September 8 serves us up an NFC North clash in Vikings vs. Bears on Monday Night Football, and my focus is on Bears QB Caleb Williams.
Big things are expected of the sophomore now that he’s linking up with Ben Johnson. Can he dismantle a strong Vikings’ defense?
I’ve taken a long look at Caleb Williams odds to find the very best bets on the board for Monday night.
Caleb Williams prop pick
Caleb Williams best bet: Over 219.5 passing yards (-110 at bet365)
It wasn’t the rookie season that either Caleb Williams or the Chicago Bears hoped for after picking the former USC man first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
We saw some real lows for the rookie, but also some promising performances that hinted at his potential. The team made the decision to hire Ben Johnson, the former Lions’ OC, this offseason with the hope of turning a promising QB and a talented array of weapons, into a strong team.
Last season we saw Williams average 208.2 passing yards per game, some 12 yards below his total here. However, with a shrewd offensive mind in Johnson and a full training camp, we should see a leap for the second-year quarterback.
It’s worth remembering that he averaged 265.5 passing yards per game in the two defeats to the Minnesota Vikings last year. Under Johnson’s coaching, we saw Jared Goff go from a solid but unspectacular quarterback into somebody leading one of the best offenses in the NFL and averaging 260 passing yards per game.
Given the talent on the Bears roster, it’s fair to assume we should see an improvement in Williams, and that should start from Week 1.
Caleb Williams same-game parlay
Caleb Williams Over 219.5 passing yards
Caleb Williams Over 0.5 interceptions
Rome Odunze to score a touchdown
Williams only had six interceptions last year and was pretty secure with the football, but the Vikings were turnover specialists, grabbing 24 interceptions in just 17 regular season games.
For the final leg of this SGP, we’re betting on another Bears’ sophomore in Rome Odunze to score a touchdown.
Much like with Williams, I'm expecting Johnson to help Odunze reach the next level, and he could project as the Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Bears’ offense, which should mean plenty of targets and opportunities to score.
