Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka has put in his biggest performances against some of the NFL’s toughest defenses.

He lines up against another elite stop unit when Tampa Bay crosses the country for a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12.

Egbuka’s efforts are at the core of my Bucs vs. Rams predictions and NFL picks for November 23.

Buccaneers vs Rams prediction

Buccaneers vs Rams Best bet: Emeka Egbuka Over 69.5 receiving yards (-114)

Emeka Egbuka has recorded 100-plus yard outings against the likes of Seattle, Philadelphia, and New England this season, and the rookie wideout will be counted on to keep that pace on SNF.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a 6.5-point underdog against the Los Angeles Rams, setting up a pass-positive game script for quarterback Baker Mayfield and his newest top target.

With fellow WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in and out with injuries, Egbuka has been the constant for Mayfield. He tops Tampa in targets by more than 30 passes, drawing nine or more targets in each of the last four games.

Los Angeles’ pass defense ranks among the best on the season, but those numbers are a bit wonky due to some bad QB competition. The Rams have taken advantage of pop-gun air attacks, rookies, and backups — yet give up big gains and plenty of passing touchdowns to capable QBs.

The past two weeks, L.A. has hemorrhaged yardage through the air, allowing almost 600 total yards against San Francisco and Seattle. Los Angeles has also been unable to limit top targets, owning the 17th DVOA versus WR1s despite sitting second in overall pass defense DVOA at FTN.

LA runs one of the highest rates of zone coverage in the league, which sets up well for Mayfield and Egbuka. Tampa Bay’s passer sees his output spike versus zone, including the third-best passer rating against zone coverage among QBs (108.7).

In turn, Egbuka also sees a jump in rating versus zone defense. He’s been the Bucs' best zone buster and sits 17th among all wide receivers versus zone schemes at PFF

His player projections for Week 12 are very positive, given the game script, the tall total, and the fast track inside SoFi Stadium. All but one model consulted comes in above 70 yards, with the bulk of those forecasts at 73 or higher, with a ceiling of 82 yards from our Covers prop projections.

Buccaneers vs Rams SNF same-game parlay

If you read my Week 12 “NFL Underdogs” column, you’ll see I’m on the Bucs +6.5. Los Angeles was more than lucky to escape last Sunday with a win, and this spread would have looked very different had Seattle not missed that last-second FGA.

The Rams won’t be able to run on the Bucs, so Matthew Stafford will be airing it out against a softer secondary. Baker Mayfield can also do damage against a Rams pass defense that isn’t as good as its stats would lead you to believe.

Egbuka is Tampa’s top target, and his Week 12 projections call for a big night in La-La Land. Some models are as high as 82 yards on SNF.

The Bucs’ run defense won’t let Sean McVay get going on the ground, while the Tampa offense can trade shots with L.A.

Two great quarterbacks indoors are set to meet on the fast track under the primetime lights.

Egbuka has stepped up with huge receiving efforts against some top NFL defenses.

Mayfield found the end zone against the Bills and has put the offense on his back every week.

Since Baker Mayfield took over under center in 2023, the Bucs have been underdogs of +6.5 or higher only six times. They’re 5-1 against the spread (83%) in those games. Find more NFL betting trends for Buccaneers vs. Rams.
