Something has to give when Joe Burrow's high-powered offense runs into Houston's nasty defense. The Texans are a 2.5-point home favorite Sunday at Reliant Stadium, but my Bengals vs. Texans predictions envision Cincinnati as a live underdog, and points are at a premium.
Let's dive into my NFL picks for Week 2.

Early Bengals vs Texans spread pick: Bengals +2.5
I don't think it gets to this, but I'm willing to take the Cincinnati Bengals down to a pick 'em. I'm more confident in the Bengals than the market, and I picked them to win the AFC North and be the AFC's No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
Cincinnati's defense has been terrible for most of Joe Burrow's career, but it looked good during a 33-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1. Cincy invested in its defensive front this offseason while trading for All-Pro Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and signing EDGE Bofe Maye.
The Bengals were hitting hard and sacked Baker Mayfield four times Sunday, including a strip-sack touchdown in the first quarter. If the Bengals can pressure C.J. Stroud Sunday like they did to Mayfield last week, they'll win this game straight up.
Cincy's offense should be a top-five unit as long as Burrow is healthy, so the Bengals don't need to dominate defensively. They just need their revamped front to exploit Houston's shaky offensive line enough to make Stroud uncomfortable.

Early Bengals vs Texans total pick: Under 46.5
The Under is playable down to 45.5 because both teams cashed Overs in Week 1, and it's generally smart to fade recent results when handicapping the NFL.
Houston's defense is the league's best unit, and it'll bounce back after Josh Allen crushed the Texans during a 36-31 Buffalo Bills win on Sunday. The Texans' elite secondary can match up well with Bengals stud WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and their defensive line will win at the point of attack against Cincy's weak offensive line.
Also, Cincinnati's Week 1 Over was a bit flukey because there were two defensive touchdowns in that game, including one from each team. Lastly, Houston's defense does a good job preventing explosive plays, and the Texans ranked 28th in offensive success rate last season, per RBSDM.com.
