The Seahawks can make Caleb Williams earn every scoring drive. Their defense held the Chiefs to 213 yards and three points without allowing a red-zone possession. Winning early downs would let them put Williams in longer passing situations, and Kyle Monangai's absence leaves D'Andre Swift with more responsibility in the Bears' backfield. Chicago has counters: Colston Loveland carries no game designation, giving Williams his tight end, and Ben Johnson has extra preparation time after the Bears played Thursday. Uchenna Nwosu is doubtful, though, which could make it harder to turn those longer-yardage situations into punts.

The bigger risk to Seahawks -3.5 is pressure on Sam Darnold. Charles Cross is out, putting Josh Jones at left tackle; Quenton Nelson starts at left guard, with Grey Zabel shifting to right guard. That reshuffled line faces a Bears defense expecting Jeffery Simmons' debut and T.J. Edwards' return. Quick throws can limit the time those blockers must hold up, but missed assignments could produce sacks or short fields. Josh Inglis' Bears vs. Seahawks prediction also backs Under 46.5. Our 46-point forecast leaves only half a point below the line, so turnovers that hand either offense easy scoring chances are a significant risk.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba can score without waiting for a goal-line opportunity. He caught nine passes for 150 yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs, beating single coverage for a 28-yard score on third-and-9. That matters against a Bears defense prepared to send extra rushers: if the protection holds, Darnold has a receiver capable of turning a one-on-one matchup into six points. Smith-Njigba produced even when the Chiefs devoted additional coverage to him, and Mike Macdonald has emphasized making him the primary option on passing concepts.

Rashid Shaheed's absence leaves fewer established receiving options alongside Smith-Njigba, who carries no game designation. That could concentrate Darnold's targets, although it also gives the Bears more reason to shade coverage toward him. Zach Charbonnet's return adds a rushing option near the goal line, so the Seahawks can still score without their leading receiver finding the end zone. Smith-Njigba's ability to beat coverage farther out remains the appeal. His anytime touchdown selection carries a 48% Kalshi purchase quote, separate from our team-score forecast.

Our AI model backs Seahawks -3.5, and the Covers projections also imply a Seattle cover. Chris Vasile takes Bears +3.5 in his Week 8 picks against the spread, favoring Chicago's extra preparation time and the cushion above a field goal. The disagreement centers on whether the Seahawks can turn their defensive edge into enough offense to win by more than three. Josh Inglis is also targeting the Under in his Bears vs. Seahawks prediction.

How our NFL AI predictions work

Our NFL AI predictions use a custom forecasting model built with GPT-6 Astra to project a final score for each matchup using historical scoring results and team-strength ratings. We review injuries and matchup news for the accompanying analysis.

The score forecasts are fixed before we compare them with the selected Kalshi spread and total to produce our ATS and Over/Under picks. Kalshi percentages are market quotes, separate from the score forecasts. Our touchdown pick is an AI-assisted editorial selection based on player usage and matchup research, not an output of the team-score model. We track results against the original selections and lines at time of publish.

We’ll continue updating the process as the season develops and publicly track every published score prediction, ATS pick, and Over/Under selection.

Odds and market lines are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change.
