Two rivals meet in Week 4 as the No. 6 Oregon Ducks host the Oregon State Beavers at Autzen Stadium in the 129th meeting between these two programs.

Oregon has dominated its way to a 3-0 record, while Oregon State has been a massive disappointment en route to an 0-3 start.

My Oregon State vs. Oregon predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 20 tell you why that’s just created an inflated line in a potential lookahead spot for the Ducks.

Oregon vs Oregon State prediction

Oregon vs Oregon State best bet: Oregon State +35.5 (-114)

This is one of the biggest lookahead spots of Week 4 as the Oregon Ducks have a visit to Happy Valley on deck to face No. 2 Penn State next week.

There’s no incentive for Oregon to play all the cards in its deck with such a prestigious showdown on the calendar a week from now, so expecting the Ducks to cover a spread above five touchdowns is too much for my liking.

They certainly have the talent to do it, going 3-0 with an average winning margin of 44 points. Still, Dan Lanning opted to take his foot off the gas pedal when pulling out to early leads last season, and he’ll likely take a similar approach to stay healthy and prepared for the Nittany Lions.

The Oregon State Beavers have shown enough in the passing game (305.7 yards per game) that they should be a threat for a backdoor cover, especially if Oregon opts for its reserves quicker than normal.

The Ducks haven’t quite been elite on defense (50th in success rate), and the Beavers probably only need a few scores to stay within range of a cover.

Oregon vs Oregon State same-game parlay

This SGP follows the script of Oregon getting out to an early lead and then cooling its jets due to the huge matchup with Penn State awaiting in Week 5.

The Ducks have pulled out to a lead of at least three scores at the half of all three opening games and should be able to do so against Oregon State’s defense (120th in EPA per play allowed).

At that point, it’s all about ball control, health, and saving the game plan for next week — which plays to a low-scoring second half.
