For the fifth straight season, Week 0 begins with a clash across the pond at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, with this year's game being a rematch of Bill Belichick's North Carolina debut as the Tar Heels take on TCU at noon ET (ESPN) on Saturday.
After beating UNC by 34 points last year, the Horned Frogs are a 7.5-point favorite, but my North Carolina vs. TCU prediction and college football picks are focused on the Under on the Emerald Isle.

North Carolina vs TCU prediction: Under 46.5
It's not the luck of the Irish that has led the last three games at Aviva Stadium to finish with exactly 45 points; it's the impact of asking college teams to travel multiple time zones to open the season in a game that has consistently seen rain.
This year's game could get off to an extra slow offensive start, too, with North Carolina (Billy Edwards Jr.) and TCU (Jaden Craig) both breaking in transfer QBs. The Tar Heels could be in especially bad shape after finishing 124th in SP+ on offense last year and ranking outside the Top 100 in early-down EPA per play.
However, UNC had a Top 40 defense last year, and it should slow TCU down enough for the Under.
COVERS INTEL: Edwards has historically struggled against Power Four opponents. In his 12 career games against P4 opponents in which he's taken double-digit dropbacks, he's accounted for nearly as many turnover-worthy plays (14) as total TDs (20), per PFF.

With rain expected leading up to the game, and potentially during it, field conditions could play a role in slowing these offenses early, especially with both having transfers debut at QB. With that said, the Horned Frogs are in much better shape.
Craig was a star last year at Harvard, finishing third in the FCS in big-time throw rate (8.6%), and he pairs well with TCU's new offensive coordinator, Gordon Sammis. Those two should help push a North Carolina defense that's without coordinator Steve Belichick, who's on medical leave.
Between the weather impact, both teams starting transfers at QB, and UNC's dysfunction, I'd take the Under at any number above 45.5 and the Horned Frogs to cover the -9.5.
