Tonight's Big 12 matchup between Kansas and No. 12 Utah is now scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (6 p.m. MT) after both programs agreed to move kickoff up by 2 hours and 15 minutes because of the weather forecast around Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.

The latest Kansas vs. Utah weather forecast still calls for gusts above 35 mph during the game, but the earlier start could help the teams avoid some of the later rain that would have likely fallen on these teams with the original kickoff time of 10:15 p.m. ET.

Kansas vs Utah weather forecast

The National Weather Service hourly forecast near Rice-Eccles Stadium calls for 72 degrees at the 6 p.m. local kickoff with south winds of 18 mph and gusts to 36 mph. There's only an 18% chance of rain from 6-8 p.m. local time, but that jumps to 54% by 9 p.m. local time with sustained winds of 20 mph and gusts up to 37 mph.

A wind advisory for Salt Lake City runs from Saturday at 3 a.m. through Sunday at 6 a.m. local time. A slight chance of thunderstorms remains during the game, so the earlier kickoff does not completely eliminate the risk of a weather interruption.

How weather could impact Kansas vs Utah

Those gusts could make deep throws and long field goals less reliable for both teams tonight. Kansas can lean on Dylan Edwards, who ran for 137 yards and three touchdowns against Middle Tennessee, though keeping the offense on the ground becomes harder if the Jayhawks fall behind early and the storm picks up in the second half.

Utah quarterback Devon Dampier gives his offense an option beyond the passing game with 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns through four games. The Utes' two-QB system also presents a unique way to generate short-yardage gains in a game where downfield throws could be off the menu.

Kansas vs Utah odds & live win probability

Utah is a 16.5-point favorite with a total of 51.5 and roughly an 85% win probability implied by the latest Kalshi market odds.

Ed Scimia backs Utah -16.5 and Under 51.5 in his Kansas vs Utah prediction, relying on both defenses in a game impacted by weather. The wind adds a potential obstacle to explosive passing plays and long field goals, although the earlier kickoff could spare the offenses some of the later rain.
