Twelve months ago, Bill Belichick's college coaching debut ended in a 48-14 humiliation that had the entire sport laughing.
On Saturday, in Dublin, he got his rematch and got it right: North Carolina beat that same TCU team, 15-10, powered by a defense that forced two second-half turnovers while the offense sputtered to field goals.
It wasn't pretty. It didn't need to be. Naturally, the betting markets moved, some of them, anyway.
Is Bill Belichick back? Read on as we examine the UNC odds after their stunning upset over TCU.

UNC odds to make CFP
Kalshi hasn't listed the North Carolina Tar Heels among its national title contenders at all, not at a long-shot number, not even a token +100000 entry, just absent from the board entirely.
One road win over the TCU Horned Frogs didn't move that needle in the slightest, which is the clearest sign yet that this is a real, if modest, step forward and not the start of a runaway overreaction.
UNC odds to win ACC
Let's not get carried away.
UNC entered the season at a 1.5% chance to win the ACC per FPI, and Kalshi still has them priced at a flat 1-cent (roughly 1%) to win the conference outright, even after Saturday's win, tied for dead last in the entire league alongside Wake Forest, Syracuse, and Stanford.
Miami remains the runaway favorite at 58%, with the rest of the field bunched into the low single digits behind them.
So no, nobody's rewriting the conference power rankings off one win in Dublin. But going from "laughingstock" to "longshot" is still progress, even if that progress is currently measured in pennies.
UNC 6+ wins
Traders clearly weren't ready for North Carolina to win today.
On Kalshi's "North Carolina Regular Season Wins?" market, nearly every threshold spiked the moment the final whistle blew: 3+ wins jumped to 95%, 4+ to 90%, 5+ to 68%, 6+ rocketed to 95% (up 68 points, the single biggest swing on the board), and 7+ hit a coin-flip 49%.
That's a wild reversal for a team that finished 4-8 last season with a preseason win total of just 4.5. One data point is one data point, but the market didn't nudge here; it lurched.
Whether 7+ wins is actually a good bet at 49 cents is another question entirely: with three ranked opponents at home (Notre Dame, Miami, and Louisville) plus five road games still on the slate, paying roughly even money on a coin flip feels more like buying into Saturday's emotion than into the schedule UNC still has to survive.
