The Delaware Blue Hens will be playing their first ever game against an FBS opponent as an FBS team themselves on Saturday afternoon when they face off with Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Field.

It was a rough start for Coach Deion Sanders in his first game without his sons and Travis Hunter. However, they get a big drop off in competition in Week 2.

Find out who I like in my Delaware vs. Colorado predictions and college football picks for Saturday, September 6.

Delaware vs Colorado prediction

Delaware vs Colorado best bet: Colorado -23.5 (-122 at FanDuel)

The Delaware Blue Hens played their first ever game as an FBS team last week against an FCS opponent and won 35-17 over Delaware State. Now they must jump into playing against not only a fellow FBS opponent, but a power conference team.

The last time Delaware played an FBS opponent was September of 2023 when they lost 63-7 at Penn State. While I wouldn’t expect a repeat of that performance, I do believe the Buffaloes are going to take out some frustrations from last week’s loss on the Blue Hens here.

While transfer quarterback Kaidon Salter struggled through the air, he did run the ball well along with running back Micah Welch, who averaged 5.8 yards per carry last week.

Delaware just gave up 200 rushing yards to Delaware State and I am sure Colorado is going to take advantage of that run defense.

The Buffs run defense struggled, but it was mostly to the quarterback runs. The Blue Hens do not have nearly as mobile a quarterback and are a much more pass heavy offense.

Colorado will take out some anger from the way they lost last week and get a big win to spoil Delaware’s first FBS game.

Delaware vs Colorado same-game parlay

To add to the spread, I am going to take the Over. The Blue Hens can probably still get to double digits and then I think Colorado could get near 40.

Also adding Micah Welch to reach the endzone against a bad run defense.

  • Colorado -23.5
  • Over 49.5
  • Micah Welch anytime touchdown

Our deep-ball SGP: TDs for All

Salter had a rushing touchdown last week and had 19 in his two years at Liberty. He can get another one here.
