Duke is the superior team to Syracuse, but this is a massive spread and the Blue Devils will have trouble winning by 20+ points.

The Syracuse Orange will try to build on a two-game winning streak against one of their toughest conference rivals as they visit the Duke Blue Devils tonight.

The Orange are facing an uphill climb, but I still like them to cover the massive spread in my Syracuse vs. Duke predictions.

Let’s see how bettors can approach tonight’s game in my free college basketball picks for Monday, February 16.

Syracuse vs Duke prediction

Syracuse vs Duke best bet: Syracuse +19.5 (-110)

We have two very clear trends heading into tonight’s game. The Syracuse Orange have covered in five straight contests, while the Duke Blue Devils are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games, three of which saw them as a double-digit favorite.

The problem with these huge spreads is that Duke plays slowly, ranking 267th in the country in adjusted tempo. So while the Blue Devils play elite defense, they’ve averaged only 68.8 points per game over their last five. That style makes it hard to win by 20+ points, which is why I’m taking Syracuse to cover.

Syracuse vs Duke same-game parlay

The Orange aren’t nearly as good as the Blue Devils, but Syracuse will stay in this game in large part because Duke tends to keep the overall scoring down, having hit the Under in six straight. I’m also taking Syracuse guard Nate Kingz to hit at least two shots from deep, something he’s done in five of his last six games.

Syracuse vs Duke SGP

  • Syracuse +19.5
  • Under 142
  • Nate Kingz Over 1.5 made threes

Our beyond the arc SGP: Put up your Dukes

Cameron Boozer (22.8 PPG) is known for his elite scoring, but he does a lot more for the Blue Devils. I’m taking Boozer to hit three other Overs (assists, rebounds, and threes) while helping teammate Isaiah Evans hit his own scoring total of 15.5 points, a number he’s gone Over in each of his last two games.

Syracuse vs Duke SGP

  • Isaiah Evans Over 15.5 points
  • Cameron Boozer Over 4.5 assists
  • Cameron Boozer Over 10.5 rebounds
  • Cameron Boozer Over 1.5 made threes

Syracuse vs Duke odds

  • Spread: Syracuse +19.5 (-110) | Duke -19.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Syracuse +1600 | Duke -5000
  • Over/Under: Over 142 (-110) | Under 142 (-110)

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
