The Butler Bulldogs head to Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night to face the No. 25 ranked St. John's Red Storm.

The Johnnies have won 10 of the last 11 meetings between these conference foes but my Butler vs. St. John's predictions are fading them on the spread tonight.

Here are my best free college basketball picks for this Big East clash on January 28.

Butler vs St. John's prediction

Butler vs St. John's best bet: Butler +13 (-110)

The St. John's Red Storm are back in the AP Top 25 after winning their fifth-straight game on the weekend.

That streak began with an 84-70 win on the road against the Butler Bulldogs. However, that contest wasn't nearly as one-sided as the final score would indicate.

The Bulldogs shot better than the Johnnies (57.3 eFG% to 55.3 eFG%) and hit more free throws while boasting a +6 rebounding margin. What made the difference was turnovers with St. John's turning the ball over just five times while forcing 21.

If the Bulldogs do a better job taking care of the ball, they will cover this big spread tonight. Given their recent play I think they'll be able to.

They are 3-0 SU and ATS in their last three games with two of those wins coming against Marquette and Seton Hall who, like St. John's, apply a ton of ball pressure.
