Arkansas vs Auburn best bet: Darius Acuff Over 6.5 assists (+122)
Getting plus-money for Darius Acuff to drop at least seven dimes against the Auburn Tigers is a gift.
Acuff is the key to this Arkansas Razorbacks offense, leading the team in scoring at 19.9 points per game, shooting better than 43% from 3-point range. He’s also distributing at a high clip, notching better than six dimes a game behind a 34.4% assist rate.
And Acuff has shown up in high-tempo affairs against good teams. He’s coming off a nine-assist outing at Mississippi in a game where the Hogs posted a whopping 139.9 adjusted offensive efficiency mark.
The Tigers are a good team, but their defense has been shambolic. Both Georgia and Texas A&M notched at least a 123 adjusted offensive efficiency mark, and each of Auburn’s last four power opponents have also cleared that benchmark.
Making matters worse, the Tigers have no defensive strength. They rank in the 200s against both shots inside and outside the arc, and allow an assist rate north of 50% on the year.
The Hogs play at one of the fastest tempos in college basketball, and their high volume of baskets leads to high assist probabilities.
Acuff has hit seven assists or more in four of his last five games against power conference opponents, as well as in three of his last four against Quad-1 teams. He will do so again versus this struggling Auburn defense.
Arkansas vs Auburn same-game parlay
Arkansas is the better team in this matchup. The Hogs rank Top 10 offensively in turnover rate and 3-pt accuracy, they attack the offensive glass well, and are lethal on the fast break.
The Tigers don’t defend well, don’t force turnovers, and don’t shoot the ball well from deep on offense. I’ll happily take the better unit as an underdog.
Georgia ranks second in adjusted tempo, while Texas A&M also ranks in the Top 20. Auburn’s game against the Dawgs saw 204 points scored, 184 of which came in regulation, while we got 178 points in the outing with the Aggies. We should see a similar style of play here.
What will also help push the total north of the number is Auburn’s outstanding offensive rebounding. The Tigers rank sixth in offensive boards, an area where the Hogs struggle.
That will lead to some easy second-chance points, and also help the Hogs get out in transition when the Tigers commit too many bodies trying to get those rebounds.
