Latest NBA Picks

The Toronto Raptors winning streak may have come to an end thanks to Luka Doncic, but they earned that pizza party, and they look like a team with a new purpose in the second half of the season.

The Raptors offense has been roaring, putting up a minimum of 121 points in each of their last five games and they’ll try to start a new streak when they welcome Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors to 'The Six.'

The Dubs' defense has been excellent of late, but this will be their second game in as many nights and three in their last four.

The NBA odds have the Raps as slight home underdogs. Can Toronto make the most of this rest advantage? I break it all down and bring you the best bet in my NBA picks and predictions for Warriors vs. Raptors on Friday, March 1.

Warriors vs Raptors predictions

The Toronto Raptors looked extinct heading into the All-Star break, but it feels like the team has new life in the unofficial second half of the season.

Even though the Raptors saw their winning streak come to an end against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks (Luka has ended a fair share of streaks), there were still plenty of positives to take away from that game, and their play overall of late.

Toronto’s offense has found its rhythm again. Over the last five games they rank fourth in offensive rating, and 10th in effective field goal percentage over the last five games. That has resulted in them putting up at least 121 points in each of those games.

More importantly, it’s starting to look like they have something to build around in Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley, and to a lesser extent RJ Barrett. Barnes has been stuffing the stat sheet and Quickley gives the team the shooting and playmaking the team has craved.

Now, normally this matchup with the Golden State Warriors looks like a tough one. Golden State has looked like one of the better teams in the NBA ever since Draymond Green returned in the middle of January, and now they have Chris Paul back as well.

In fact, the Dubs are 13-6 straight up and rank fourth in net rating since Green has been back in the lineup.

However, the Warriors are in a tough spot here. They will be playing the second half of a back-to-back and their third game in four nights after taking on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden last night. It has been reported that plane issues meant they did not arrive at their hotel in Toronto until 7:15 a.m. this morning.

The Warriors aren’t the most potent first-quarter scoring team to begin with, ranking 15th in first-quarter scoring. While the Dubs’ talent may win out in the long run, with the tough schedule they’ve had to endure I’m betting they get off to a bit of a sluggish start here.

That has me looking at the Raptors on the alternate first-quarter spread -1.5, which you can get at a nice +140 price tag.

Warriors vs Raptors same-game parlay

Raptors 1Q alt spread -1.5

Immanuel Quickley 3+ threes

Draymond Green 8+ rebounds

Someone who I think can attack the Warriors' tied legs early and throughout the game, is Immanuel Quickley. The Raptors guard has been on fire since coming out of the All-Star break, averaging 23.8 points while shooting 51.3% from 3-point range.

One of the areas the Warriors have been lacking a bit, even with Draymond back, is on the perimeter. They are allowing the third most 3-point attempts per game since Green has returned to the lineup. Add, Quickley to hit 3+ threes tonight.

One of the areas the Raptors need to work on is on the boards. Since Toronto’s roster makeover on Jan. 1, the team has the third-worst rebounding rate in the NBA. Green is averaging 8.1 rebounds per game over 19 games since returning from his suspension and has hauled down eight or more boards in nine of his last 16 games. Round this same-game parlay out with him to get 8+ rebounds.

Warriors vs Raptors spread and Over/Under analysis

The Raptors opened this NBA matchup as 3-point underdogs and it was the Warriors who saw the early action, with the line moving to Toronto +3.5 on Friday morning. But word of the Warriors' tough travel must be getting around because the spread has moved to Toronto +2.5 as of early Friday afternoon.

While the Raptors are in a good spot when it comes to the rest advantage, and I like them to perform well early, I’m not sure if it will last the whole game. The Warriors are an experienced, championship team that has come up against every sort of situation.

And even though the Raps have been getting buckets, they have been giving up a ton as well. They rank dead last in the NBA in defensive rating since Jan. 1. That’s not a recipe for success against Steph Curry and Co. So, I’m staying away from the full-game spread tonight.

Meanwhile, the total hit the board at 237.5 and has been bet down to 235.5 as of writing this. I would tend to agree with the early money.

Toronto is not a good defensive team, but Golden State’s shooting legs could be one of the first things to go when fatigue sets in. Plus, the Dubs rank fifth in defensive rating since Green has been back, going against a Raps team that has been super streaky when it comes to shooting.
