Perhaps Tyrese Haliburton’s secret is not caring what people think. Sure, an anonymous survey deemed him the most overrated player in the NBA, but ignore that! Especially since that result came from all of 13 players’ opinions.

Not caring what people think would run parallel to not caring about a few turnovers against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Those turnovers are nearly unavoidable, especially when handling the ball as much as the Indiana Pacers’ superstar does. And not caring about them makes it all that much easier for Haliburton to dictate a game like he did in Game 3.

My Tyrese Haliburton player prop picks focus on the most overlooked part of Haliburton’s — his ability to crash the glass.

Find out why in my free NBA picks for Friday, June 13, and be sure to check out our Thunder vs. Pacers prediction ahead of tip-off tonight.

Tyrese Haliburton best bet

Tyrese Haliburton Over 5.5 rebounds (+105 at bet365)

Rebounding was not Tyrese Haliburton’s focus this regular season, tracking down just 3.5 boards per game. He cleared this prop in only 12 of 73 games.

Things change in the postseason. Some of that is because of minutes played. Some of it is urgency.

Haliburton has averaged 5.9 rebounds in the playoffs, clearing this prop in 10 of 19 games, including in four of his last six games. Finding nine boards in Game 3 flew beneath the radar, thanks to Haliburton’s 4-of-8 shooting from deep and 11 assists, but those rebounds were vital for Indiana, particularly given his ability to grab a defensive board and immediately spark a transition opportunity.

That is the aforementioned postseason urgency.

The Indiana Pacers did not shoot well in Game 3. Aside from Haliburton, they hit just 5-of-19 (26.3%) attempts from long range. That should tick upward in Game 4. Role players shoot better at home, after all. For Indiana, that starts with Myles Turner, Pascal Siakam, and Obi Toppin. Yet that trio went just 1-of-9 from deep on Wednesday.

More should come from the Pacers offense. And as it does, Haliburton will not need to carry as much of an offensive burden. That should give him even more opportunities at rebounds.

But if not, it should not matter. Haliburton has made rebounding a postseason emphasis, to the tune of nearly six per game. This prop should not be available at plus odds.

Tyrese Haliburton same-game parlay

Tyrese Haliburton Over 5.5 rebounds

Tyrese Haliburton Over 2.5 turnovers

Tyrese Haliburton Over 8.5 assists

The Oklahoma City Thunder force turnovers. Again trailing in this series, the Thunder need to dial up their defensive pressure even more. Oklahoma City should force more turnovers.

And Haliburton should not care. He has committed at least three turnovers in every game this series, and Indiana’s offense has managed to keep humming. Acknowledge those turnovers as the cost of breakage.

As for including his assists in this same-game parlay, it was somewhat surprising to see Haliburton rack up 11 assists in Game 3 despite the Pacers’ shooting struggles. Logic says setting up Turner, Siakam, and Toppin with open shots will yield better results in Game 4 — a worry for the Thunder — and further boost Haliburton’s assists tally. He may not hand out 11 again, but 8.5 is a perfectly reasonable number to clear.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
