Two teams that are dealing with injuries to key players and struggling to find wins meet tonight when the Dallas Mavericks host the New Orleans Pelicans.

These are two of the worst offensive squads in the NBA right now, especially with the injuries on both sides, which is why my Pelicans vs. Mavericks predictions like the Under.

Let’s take a closer look at tonight’s matchup with my free NBA picks for Wednesday, November 5.

Pelicans vs Mavericks prediction

Pelicans vs Mavericks best bet: Under 227.5 (-110)

Heading into tonight’s game, the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans are the two lowest-scoring teams in the league. New Orleans is putting up 108.9 ppg, while the Mavericks are dead-last in the NBA, scoring 107.3 ppg.

That’s not a recipe for success, and predictably, these are currently the Bottom 2 teams in the Western Conference. Things are only getting worse on both sides as well, with injuries impacting some of the top scorers for each team.

For the Pelicans, the issue is straightforward: they’re without Zion Williamson tonight. While hamstring injuries are nothing new for Williamson, the Pelicans are always worse off when he can’t take the court, as he leads the team not only in scoring (22.8 ppg), but also rebounds and assists.

Dallas will be missing multiple contributors tonight. Kyrie Irving remains out as he recovers from knee surgery, while Anthony Davis (20.8 ppg) is out with a left calf strain. That will put the scoring load on PJ Washington (15.9 ppg), D’Angelo Russell (13.6 ppg), and young talents like Cooper Flagg (13.6 ppg) and Max Christie (12.7 ppg).

There’s simply not enough offensive talent left on the court to expect a high-scoring game tonight. I’m taking the Under.

Pelicans vs Mavericks same-game parlay

With all the injuries the Mavericks are dealing with, I think 7.5 points is a generous spread in this game, even with Williamson sitting out for New Orleans. I also think the injury to Zion will give Trey Murphy III a chance to step up after scoring 21 points on Tuesday against the Hornets.

Jordan Poole started the year by hitting at least three shots from beyond the arc in four of his first five games, and this is still a good bet even if he’s been cold from 3-point range in his last two outings.

Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
