Knicks vs Celtics Props & Best Bets for Today

Jayson Tatum's season is done, so the rest of the Celtics will see their usage increase in an attempt to stave off elimination. Derrick White has been a key cog already and will only see his scoring tick upward with Tatum out.

Jayson Tatum suffered a torn right Achilles in Game 4 of the New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics series on Monday, and his postseason is over.

With the superstar sidelined and Boston facing elimination, other Celtics will have to step up to fill the massive void.

My Knicks vs Celtics props and NBA picks for Wednesday, May 14, key in on a trio of Boston players who will see the ball in their hands a lot more frequently in Game 5.

Best Knicks vs Celtics props

  • Celtics Brown o3.5 turnovers (+130)
  • Celtics White o18.5 points (-125)
  • Celtics Pritchard o13.5 points (-140)

Knicks vs Celtics player props for May 14

Jaylen Brown Over 3.5 turnovers (+130 at bet365)

Jayson Tatum’s absence means Jaylen Brown should take over as the Boston Celtics' go-to option on offense in Game 5, but that also means more attention from the New York Knicks' strong defensive unit. His scoring line is set at 25.5, which seems a bit high. Instead, I’m targeting his turnovers line.

Brown’s usage jumped from 28.6 to 30.9 with Tatum sidelined during the regular season, and I expect him to have the ball in his hands quite a bit tonight. Brown recorded at least three turnovers in five of seven games without Tatum and at least four on three of those occasions.

Across nine playoff games this season, Brown is averaging 3.3 turnovers, and he’s hit the Over on this line four times. That includes two of four against the Knicks.

Brown will be asked to pick up the slack on offense tonight, and defensive stalwarts Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby will likely be hounding him all game. Four turnovers are certainly in the cards, and I love the plus-money odds.

Derrick White Over 18.5 points (-125 at bet365)

Derrick White has been phenomenal in this year’s playoffs, averaging 18.3 points per game across nine contests, including eight with Tatum in the lineup. He’s been excellent against the Knicks, hitting the Over in three of four games while averaging 19.8 points.

White has been productive against New York all season, averaging 19.1 points across eight regular and postseason games and hitting the Over five times.

He’s been a more productive scorer at home than on the road overall, and he posted 20.5 points per game at TD Garden against the Knicks compared to just 17.8 at Madison Square Garden.

During the regular season, White averaged 15.9 points with Tatum available and 20.8 points across eight games with him sidelined. He scored at least 19 points three times and at least 18 points five times. He’ll be asked to take on a larger scoring responsibility tonight.

Payton Pritchard Over 13.5 points (-140 at bet365)

Payton Pritchard, the 2024-25 Sixth Man of the Year, averaged a career-best 14.3 points in the regular season, putting up slightly better numbers at home than on the road. His home/road splits have been more pronounced in the playoffs, with averages of 13 at TD Garden compared to 9.5 across all other venues.

Pritchard scored at least 14 points in 45 of 89 games, including the regular season and playoffs, and his numbers got a significant bump with Tatum inactive.

Pritchard averaged 13.6 points with Tatum available in the regular season and 19 across 10 games with Tatum out. In those contests, Pritchard scored at least 14 points six times.

In Tatum’s lone playoff absence this season, Pritchard posted 14 points in a 109-100 win over the Magic in Game 2 of the first round. Expect some magic tonight as the Celtics try to keep their postseason hopes alive.
