There’s not much reason to expect anything different from the Canadians. They are coming off a 4-0 victory over Switzerland, which ranks 5th, in a game that was even more lopsided than the score suggests.
Canada outshot the Swiss 55-6 – yes, 55-6 – and an outstanding performance from Saskia Maurer was the only thing keeping the game respectable.
Canada’s best scoring output came in the 3rd period, where they kept the pedal down and pulled away, winning by a 3-0 margin.
The contest was closer than it should have been, and that should serve as motivation. They will want to create separation early and leave no doubt against Czechia as they build to the level necessary to compete with the USA.
