No one shrugs off a long injury list like Erik Spoelstra and the resilient Miami Heat, and they’ll put their four-game win streak on the line against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs tonight.

Without Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro, the short-handed Heat outlasted the Atlanta Hawks 117-109 last night, led by Bam Adebayo’s 26 points and 17 rebounds — and they arrive in San Antonio as slight favorites in the latest NBA odds.

San Antonio is trending in the opposite direction with four straight losses and fell short in a 117-110 setback against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday despite 29 points from Wembanyama.

Read on for my free NBA picks for the Heat vs Spurs to find out which one of the NBA player props has caught my eye.

Heat vs Spurs predictions

Amid all the excitement around the rookie campaign of Victor Wembanyama, a common question has been whether his development could take an even faster track with a true point guard setting him up.

But it’s hard to argue with Gregg Popovich’s Hall of Fame judgment. He’s sticking with Jeremy Sochan as his point forward, with Tre Jones leading the San Antonio Spurs bench unit, and living with the growing pains as Sochan adjusts to the role in his second year.

There are going to be rough nights, like Sochan’s six-turnover game against the Timberwolves on Friday, but he’s caught the eye as a playmaker and he’s still building chemistry with Wemby.

Against a banged-up Miami Heat team on the second night of a back-to-back set, I like San Antonio to get off to a fast start, with Sochan pulling the strings, and I like the Over on his assists prop here, especially at these plus odds.

The trends tell a positive story. Sochan has had five or more dimes in five of his last six games and, despite the Spurs’ defensive shortcomings, this is an offense that can put up points. The hosts have scored at least 110 points in five of their past six outings.

If this game is played on the Spurs’ terms, it’ll be a high-tempo shootout, which suits Sochan as a creator in transition, and I see him setting the table for Wembanyama, Devin Vassell, and Keldon Johnson again tonight.

My best bet: Jeremy Sochan Over 4.5 assists (+100 at bet365)

Heat vs Spurs same-game parlay

Jeremy Sochan Over 4.5 assists

Bam Adebayo Over 22.5 points

Heat -1.5

With Herro out and Butler questionable, Adebayo is primed for another monster stat line and a heavy workload a night removed from playing 39 minutes in Atlanta. The Heat need Bam’s offense more than ever, and I expect him to get up at least 15 shots and force his way to the free-throw line.

Adebayo is averaging 23 points this season and has pumped that up to 28 a game in his past two contests. Give me the Over on his points prop.

I’m picking Miami ATS as well. The Heat just find a way with their next-man-up mentality, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Josh Richardson both gave Spoelstra valuable minutes against the Hawks. I see the visitors’ experience edging out this young Spurs team.

Heat vs Spurs spread and Over/Under analysis

The Heat are the slightest of favorites tonight on the second night of back-to-back, and they continue to grind out wins despite seemingly needing to adjust their rotation on a nightly basis.

Yesterday’s impressive road win against the Hawks was a perfect example, and they could have Butler back in the line-up here. Miami is 8-2 in the past 10 meetings between these teams, and it's won five of the last six matchups.

Since blowing a 22-point lead in an OT loss to the Raptors on November 5, San Antonio has wobbled to three more losses. The hosts are giving up 124.9 points a game — second-worst mark in the NBA — and that spells trouble against a shrewd (if unspectacular) offensive team like Miami.

The Over has been a consistent winner with the Spurs this year, and it’s 9-1 in their past 10 contests. It’s hit in all of their last six games, and this is a San Antonio team that gave up 152 points against the Indiana Pacers last week.

But don’t expect a shootout when this Miami team is involved. It's cashed the Under in seven of its last 10 games and has only allowed 110 points or more once in its past five outings.
