Olympic men's hockey is officially underway, and NHL players will take the ice at the Games for the first time in 12 long years. Canada will take on Switzerland today in a matchup that features some of the game's top talent on both sides.

My Canada vs. Switzerland predictions and free betting picks are banking on a hungry Canadian team wasting no time getting to work, as the best hockey country in the world has taken two consecutive best-on-best gold medals.

Don't miss puck drop at 3:10 p.m. ET on TSN and Peacock.

Canada vs Switzerland prediction

Canada vs Switzerland Best bet: Canada -0.5 1P (-125 at BET99)

I'm expecting an absolute surge from Canada as soon as the puck drops.

They have elite offensive weapons on all four lines, from Connor McDavid to Nick Suzuki to Sidney Crosby. The same cannot be said for Switzerland, despite a respectable amount of NHL talent on their roster.

This Canadian squad is star-studded, and expectations from fans are rightfully sky-high.

Canada vs Switzerland same-game parlay

Canada -0.5 1P

Over 6.5

Switzerland's only NHL-affiliated goaltender is Akira Schmid of the Vegas Golden Knights. He's currently their third-string and has been up-and-down from the AHL since 2021.

He and his .895 SV% will be hard-pressed to keep some of the world's elite from putting the puck behind him.

While the Swiss are certainly no slouches and have a real chance to do some damage in Milan, they're far from Canada's toughest competition. I expect the Over to cash here, with the Canadians offering the most contributions.
