Czechia entered the Olympics as a trendy dark horse but opened with a brutal 5-0 loss to Canada. That embarrassment should spark a response against an inexperienced French side.
The Czechs are top-heavy but dangerous, led by David Pastrnak, Martin Necas, and Tomas Hertl — all quiet in Game 1 but primed for a breakout here.
France fell 4-0 to Switzerland in its opener and is making its first Olympic men’s hockey appearance in 24 years.
This is a clear step up in class. Expect Czechia’s talent edge to show early, with first-period pressure and goals setting the tone.

France doesn’t have a single notable NHL name. The Swiss shut them down completely, and while Lukas Dostal struggled against Canada, he came into the tournament in great form.

I do believe the Czechs will be solid defensively against a much weaker opponent, but I also don’t see them scoring a boatload of goals and making this a blowout. Expect a scoreline similar to France vs Switzerland. Czechia will do their damage early.
