Anthony Edwards Odds and Props: All Offense Runs Through Ant Man

Anthony Edwards never thinks the sky is falling, so if there’s one person in the Minnesota Timberwolves locker room that you can be sure still believes they can beat the odds in this series, it’s Ant Man.

With Minnesota’s season on the line tonight, I’m taking a closer look at Anthony Edwards' props to provide my favorite NBA picks surrounding the superstar in this Timberwolves vs. Mavericks tilt on May 28.

Anthony Edwards pick: Over 6.5 assists

By his own admission, Anthony Edwards has had some tough moments down the stretch in this series. But the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to keep putting him in those big spots, and I’m expecting Ant to respond with quicker decisions in Game 4.

Whether it’s a drive, a shot, or a pass, he’s got to make the right read before the Dallas Mavericks defense can swarm around him.

In short, his playmaking is the X-factor for Minnesota in this must-win spot — and that makes the Over on his assists prop worth a long look.

Ant has hit the Over on 6.5 assists in all three games in the Western Conference Finals, and although his five turnovers got attention in Game 3, he led the Timberwolves with nine dimes while navigating frequent double teams.

If the first three games are any indication, he’s going to draw a crowd but that can be a boost for his assists total. Even with Karl-Anthony Towns struggling from downtown, Edwards has quality shooters around him, with Mike Conley and Jaden McDaniels combining to go 7-for-11 from deep in Game 3.

Minnesota has tried to ease Ant’s workload by putting the ball in Conley’s hands to initiate some of the offense, but I still see Edwards being a focal point — embracing the spotlight of this win-or-go-home contest. 

Ant played 43 minutes in Game 3, and he’s unlikely to take much of a breather tonight. That paves the way for Edwards to create for his teammates and hit the Over on his assists total.

While I’ve zoned in on his playmaking for my best bet, I still expect Edwards to be aggressive as a scorer, especially as Towns is in a rut. The Timberwolves need Ant to push the pace, get to the free-throw line, and capitalize on rare Dallas turnovers. 

Almost a year ago, the Timberwolves found themselves in a 3-0 hole against the Denver Nuggets, and Ant put the team on his back with a monster Game 4, scoring 34 points in an overtime win to avoid a sweep. I’m predicting something similar tonight.

The Over on his 3-point makes feels a little riskier. Edwards’ shooting from beyond the arc has been streaky in these playoffs, but he had five triples in Game 1 and knocked down at least three 3-pointers in four of the seven contests against the Nuggets in the last round.

The Mavericks will live with Edwards settling for perimeter jump shots, but he made his triples at a 36% clip during the regular season, and I see him cashing in those looks here — particularly if he’s stuck with the ball in late-clock situations.
