My analysis
Jo Adell has the 13th-highest isolated power in baseball against lefties, along with very strong slash numbers — including a .288 batting average against them in just over 40 plate appearances. I expect him to find success this evening against Carlos Rodon.
Rodon has had a decent 2024, but the metrics around him have yet to be positive. A few things stand out, like an expected batting average over .450, a hard hit rate in the Bottom 20% of baseball, and an expected ERA that screams negative regression.
Adell should be able to take advantage of Rodon's issues with giving up hard contact. He'll enter this evening with the second-best hard-hit rate on the Angels and in the 70th percentile of the league.
Adell should also match up with Rodon's pitch mix quite well. He'll see a lot of fastballs tonight, which is good for him as he has the third-best slugging percentage against it among the Los Angeles Angels. However, he also fares pretty decently against Rodon's secondary slider pitch, making this all-around a favorable matchup.
I get the price tonight. The Yankees' pitching, specifically its bullpen, has been great lately, and Adell has been hitless in four straight games. However, at some point, he'll hit at least like the .220 hitter he is, and this matchup tonight is as favorable as it gets for him.

Like last night, I projected around an entire run Under the total. Adell is unique for the Angels because most of its lineup has been horrific against left-handed pitching this season, with slash numbers that rank near the bottom of the league.
That should help Rodon to keep that offense at bay. Likewise, Patrick Sandoval has been strong all season at inducing soft contact — a must against the New York Yankees.
