It's Tarik Skubal day in Southern California as the Los Angeles Dodgers (-285) host the Kansas City Royals to start a three-game series.

L.A. is in the midst of its toughest stretch of the season, dropping eight of its last nine, but Skubal provides a great opportunity to right the ship.

See why I'm backing the home squad with my Royals vs. Dodgers predictions and MLB picks for Monday, August 10.

Who will win Royals vs Dodgers tonight: Dodgers -1.5 (-131)

A quick way to lose your hard-earned money is to back the Kansas City Royals when Noah Cameron takes the hill. Kansas City has dropped 16 of his 22 outings, and a faulty bullpen (league-worst 5.70 FIP in the last 14 days) can hardly save the day.

Tarik Skubal (26.6% K-BB%) is a massive advantage on the mound, and he's held the Royals to a .619 OPS in 118 prior plate appearances.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have the advantage everywhere, so I'd lay the run line up to -140 in a squash match.

Covers COVERS INTEL: With the wind blowing out to dead center at 5-8 mph, Noah Cameron's 35th-percentile ground ball rate (39.7%) could prove problematic.

Royals vs Dodgers Over/Under pick: Under 7.5 (-112)

Skubal's dominance means we should see a low-scoring game, especially from the visitors. Kansas City is 3-10 O/U in its last 13 road games, and the offense is unlikely to surpass expectations here.

Although Cameron's profile has plenty of holes, it's worth pointing out that he's in his finest form of the season. The southpaw has allowed a single earned run on six hits in his last 23 IP, which could help him avoid a total blow-up spot in this difficult matchup.

A Dodgers win tends to correlate with the Under as they are 2-8 O/U in their last 10 victories.

Royals vs Dodgers home run prediction: Shohei Ohtani (+216)

Shohei Ohtani's numbers see a boost across the board at home, where his 168 wRC+ and .297 ISO stand out on a day where the wind will be blowing out to center field.

He's knocked 11 home runs against left-handed pitchers, and Cameron pitches to contact, which is quite dangerous against a hitter of Ohtani's caliber.

When things get to the bullpen, Kansas City's relievers have allowed more home runs (71) than all but two other teams.

The wind blowing out to center field is notable. Otherwise, temperatures will be warm without being too humid.
