We are in the middle of the dog days of summer and with it, numerous and possibly exploitable MLB prop markets. This article will try to find some of MLB’s best props and side bets for the day and does all the heavy lifting, so you don’t have to. If there’s a line on it, we’ll look into it.

Today, we're looking for a Dodger to find his power stroke again, fading the Cubs like everyone should be, and taking a high strikeout prop in the Yankees vs. White Sox.

Check out our favorite MLB free prop bets and predictions for Saturday, August 14.

Today’s MLB props and picks

Miami Marlins team total Over 4.5 (+108)

The Chicago Cubs may have just gone up and quit on themselves after trading the faces of their franchise at the deadline. The Cubs have allowed double-digit runs in three straight games and are riding a nine-game losing skid. The Marlins hung 14 runs yesterday after scoring 11 runs in the second frame. Will the onslaught continue on Saturday when starter Zach Davies takes the ball?

Davies has seen his ERA climb to 5.26 after allowing an incredible 18 runs in his last 16 innings of work, and he has back-to-back starts where he's given up seven runs including five homers. This is not the guy Chicago wants to snap this awful funk they’re in.

The Marlins aren’t an offensive juggernaut by any means, as they sit third-last in home runs per game and fourth-last in runs per game but thanks to these numbers, we’re getting a decent number and price on Miami’s team total. Jump on the bandwagon and watch the Cubs self-destruct all the way to the finish line.

Corey Seager Over 1.5 total bases (-115)

Last Sunday we switched things up to successful results and instead of betting on a hot hitter, we dug through the boxscores and found a decent stick that has been struggling over the last two weeks in hopes that he could turn it around and take advantage of some cheap pricing.

Today, our eyes are landing on L.A.’s Corey Seager, who has 10 games under his belt since missing over a month with a fractured right hand. He launched his first homer since his return Thursday versus the Phillies which should give the No. 4 hitter some confidence after hitting just two extra-base hits in his previous 29 at-bats.

Seager is slugging .621 in his last 151 plate appearances versus similar pitchers to Saturday’s starter Taijuan Walker. Over his career, the Dodgers’ infielder is 4 for 13 against Walker with a home run.

With L.A. on the road, we will get a full nine innings out of the order which could mean an extra at-bat for Seager who had a breather last night in New York. He is hitting .275 since his return, but the power seems to be coming around again which is tough to do after hand injuries.

Dylan Cease Over 7.5 strikeouts (-110)

Chicago’s Dylan Cease leads all Saturday’s probable pitchers with 42 strikeouts over the last 30 days — 27 2-3 innings. He has hit double-digit punchouts in three of his last five starts and is coming off a 10 K performance with a 40 percent CSW rate. Today, he faces the Yankees, who have struggled to put the ball in play with their middle of the order.

Joey Gallo came over to New York at the deadline but has struck out 22 times in 45 at-bats for his new team. Last year’s home run leader, Luke Voit, has also been doing his share of whiffing since returning to the lineup from injury. Over his last 20 at-bats, Voit has struck out eight times, including three times in the corn game.

Thursday’s starter, Lance Lynn, punched out seven Yankees over five innings as the Bombers struck out a total of 14 times on Thursday. Cease sits in the Top-10 in K/9 and has even better strikeout numbers at home, where he is striking out 12.2 batters per nine innings. His K prop has hit the 7.5 mark of late, which is always a scary number to hit on the Over, but in a plus match-up with splits in our favor, we’re taking the plunge.
