We have nearly every team in the majors in action on Wednesday night, which makes it fun to go hunting for the best spots to bet on when it comes to player props.

I’m picking a couple of superstar batters in Juan Soto and Freddie Freeman to star in good situations tonight, while also looking for Los Angeles Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi to pad his strikeout total.

Let’s look at why these bets are my favorites for tonight in my free MLB player props for Wednesday, August 20.

Best MLB player props today

  • Mets Soto Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBI (-150)
  • Dodgers Freeman Over 0.5 RBI (-110)
  • Angels Kikuchi Over 5.5 strikeouts (+115)

Our 3 best MLB player props for Wednesday, August 20

Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.

Juan Soto Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-150 at Caesars)

While the New York Mets have struggled through much of the month of August, they probably feel like they’re getting their money’s worth out of Juan Soto. So far in this month, Soto has hit six homers while posting a .982 OPS, the kind of numbers that make him one of the league’s highest-paid players.

Soto can contribute in a number of ways. Notably, he walks a lot, leading the majors with 96 free passes this season. That leads to scoring plenty of runs, as Soto has already crossed the plate 87 times on the year.

But Soto has shown that his power plays at Citi Field as well, with his 30 homers fueling his total of 71 RBIs. And to close out this combination category, we should point out that he’s compiled 109 hits.

All this makes Soto one of the best hits + runs + RBI bets in the majors. And the Mets offense has blossomed around him – scoring 8.14 runs per game over their last seven outings – providing him with even more opportunities to add to his totals. Against Brad Lord and the Washington Nationals, I like the Over.

Freddie Freeman Over 0.5 RBI (-110 at BetMGM)

It’s not hard to pick players to pad their offensive stats at Coors Field, and even less so when they’re facing off against a struggling starter like Tanner Gordon (3-5, 7.98 ERA), who gets the ball tonight for the Colorado Rockies. But the challenge is to find the best spots in a situation where you expect the opposing lineup to put up big numbers.

When it comes to the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight, I’m going to the middle of the lineup with Freddie Freeman. The Dodgers first baseman has 69 RBIs on the season, a number that may actually seem a bit low considering he’s hitting .301 in the middle of an explosive lineup averaging 5.14 runs per game.

In fact, Freeman’s total would look more impressive if not for a recent string where he’s only recorded an RBI in two of his last 11 games. But Freeman feasts on righthanded pitching and Gordon hasn’t been able to get anyone out. I’m expecting Freeman to pick up at least one RBI, and I suspect he may do so right off the bat in the first inning.

Yusei Kikuchi Over 5.5 strikeouts (+115 at Caesars)

After bouncing around the majors for the past six years, Yusei Kikuchi is enjoying the best year of his career, posting a career-low 3.52 ERA and earning his second All-Star Game appearance. He continues to be a pitcher who can generate strikeouts, averaging 9.4 per nine innings so far in 2025.

Kikuchi’s biggest weakness is that he doesn’t tend to last very far in games, even by the standards of modern pitching. Over his last nine starts, he’s only made it a full six innings once. But even that hasn’t held his strikeout numbers down much, as he’s punched out seven or more batters in three of his last six starts.

Over 5.5 might feel like a stretch then, given his propensity for short outings. But Kikuchi will face off against the Cincinnati Reds tonight, a high strikeout team averaging 8.65 per game. With plus money available on a total that Kikuchi has shown himself capable of hitting and the right lineup to face, I’m taking the Over tonight.

Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
