The Washington Nationals and New York Yankees begin an early-week series tonight in New York.

After losing three of their last four to their rival over the weekend, the Yankees are looking to bounce back. We expect them to do just that and are backing the Yankees’ offense.

My Nationals vs. Yankees predictions break it down here as I bring you my MLB picks when the two teams meet Monday, August 25.

Nationals vs Yankees prediction

Nationals vs Yankees best bet: Brad Lord Under 14.5 outs (+130)

Washington Nationals starter Brad Lord is walking into a pretty difficult situation this evening in New York.

Despite what happened in the series against the Boston Red Sox, this is a New York Yankees team that has played markedly better over the last month. The offense has improved, and they’ve gone from a team that was momentarily out of the playoffs to one that looks to have that position safe — at least for now. A hot, or at least improved, offense is not exactly what you want to see if you’re Lord, especially when you consider the struggles he’s had this season.

While the barrel rate numbers have been strong, the reliance on the fastball and the below-average hard-hit rate figures to cause some issues. It’s the same phenomenon we’ve talked about all season: when a pitcher is so reliant on the heater, they are naturally at a huge disadvantage against this Yankees offense. That’s because it’s a lineup that features six players who rank in the top percentile of hard-hit rate in the majors.

When you combine this aspect with the BatX projection of Lord going Under this outs total, I feel quite good that New York will run him from the game relatively quickly. I’d play this to +108.

Nationals vs Yankees same-game parlay (SGP)

We are pairing that with the two fastball hitters in the lineup to do damage. Stanton’s home run price offered significantly more value from a pricing perspective than his counterpart, so we used him to go yard, along with pairing Judge to go over his base total.

  • Run line: Washington +1.5 (-105)| New York 1.5 (-115)
