The Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Dodgers meet this afternoon to conclude a three-game series, with L.A. taking each of the first two matchups.
Los Angeles outfielder Andy Pages has been on a heater lately, so I’ll look closer at his total bases props with my Marlins vs. Dodgers predictions and MLB picks for Wednesday, April 30.
Marlins vs Dodgers prediction
My Marlins vs Dodgers best bet: Andy Pages Over 1.5 total bases (+140 at bet365)
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages has been a man possessed recently. The youngster has bopped four home runs in his last seven games, contributing 8 RBI and three steals while going 17-for-29 at the plate.
The Miami Marlins trot out starting pitcher Cal Quantrill this afternoon. The offseason acquisition has been hit hard, bringing a 7.83 ERA, 6.45 ERA, and 5.51 FIP into a difficult matchup against a dangerous offense.
The pitch-modeling services make it clear he doesn’t have fearsome stuff and isn’t commanding his pitches. Quantrill ranks 143rd out of 155 starting pitchers who have thrown 10 innings in Stuff+ (88) and is 139th in Location+ (92).
The 30-year-old has reverse splits, allowing a .294 avg to right-handed bats since 2023. This year has been especially bad in a small sample, as right handers are hitting .444/.469/.756 and saddling the vet with a 2.44 WHIP.
Bringing it back to Pages, the outfielder hits nearly all of Quantrill’s offerings well, making this a favorable pitch-type splits matchup.
Pages has a 122 wRC+ against four-seamers, a 133 wRC+ against curves, and a 122 wRC+ against splitters. While his 74 wRC+ against sliders is less encouraging, Quantrill’s slider has been abysmal against right-handed bats (.514 xBA and .853 xSLG).
The books are offering +140 odds of Pages recording 2+ total bases. The promising 24-year-old has multiple total bases in six of his last seven games while averaging 4.6.

Marlins vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)
There’s some uncertainty involved in this game as Tony Gonsolin will start a game for the first time since 2023. He’s not fully ramped up (79 pitches in his last rehab start) and L.A.’s bullpen has been heavily utilized lately... but Miami’s offense is untrustworthy.
Instead, let's focus on more Dodger bats.
Mookie Betts stands to benefit from Quantrill’s reverse platoon splits. Betts has good results against four-seamers (167 wRC+), sliders (123 wRC+), curves (117 wRC+), and splitters (128 wRC+).
Shohei Ohtani has recorded at least 2 H+R+RBI in four of his last five games, and betting on him to do so again correlates nicely with the right handed Dodger bats behind him.
Miami has the worst bullpen FIP (5.13) in the Big Leagues, so L.A.’s lineup appears ready to dole out damage throughout the game.
