Toronto Blue Jays slugger George Springer was a run-scoring machine all year long — even more so when playing in the raucous confines of the Rogers Centre.
With the Seattle Mariners in town for Game 1 of the ALCS, my Mariners vs. Blue Jays predictions see the ultra-productive veteran building on his home success in the series opener.
Let’s break down my MLB picks for Sunday, October 12.
First pitch is set for 8:03 p.m. ET from Toronto, with the game airing on FOX.

Mariners vs Blue Jays Game 1 predictions
Who will win Mariners vs Blue Jays Game 1
Opening as -160 favorites, the Toronto Blue Jays have plenty of advantages in tonight's series opener.
Toronto is better rested, has its ace Kevin Gausman on the mound, and holds home-field advantage.
After a long series in which the Seattle Mariners needed all hands on deck to slip by the Tigers, the Blue Jays are positioned well to get the early jump.
Mariners vs Blue Jays best bet
George Springer Over 0.5 runs (-145)
George Springer had a marvelous bounce-back season for the Toronto Blue Jays, batting atop their lineup. He hit just under .310 and consistently set the table for one of the league’s best offensive teams.
Springer scored a ton of runs as a result, making his way around the bases 104 times. Like many Blue Jays, his numbers were better when playing in Toronto. He scored 20 more runs in Toronto, which is a sizable difference.
The Blue Jays veteran followed that up by plating three runs over two home games against the New York Yankees, scoring in each. Springer is extremely experienced when it comes to playoff baseball and is not someone who will be overwhelmed by the moment.
Springer also enjoyed great success against the Seattle Mariners in the regular season, scoring seven runs over six meetings. With the top arms in Seattle’s rotation unavailable in Game 1, he should enjoy some early success.
Mariners vs Blue Jays Game 1 same-game parlay (SGP)
Addison Barger quietly had a productive season against New York, recording four hits over three games in his first taste of playoff action.
It’s also worth noting that Barger feasted on the Mariners in the regular season, driving in five runs over the last three-game set.
With the better starting pitcher, a fully rested bullpen, and home field, the Jays should be able to start this series on the right foot.
Mariners vs Blue Jays SGP (+450)
- George Springer Over 0.5 runs (-145)
- Addison Barger Over 0.5 RBI (+200)
- Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (+135)
Mariners vs Blue Jays home run pick for Game 1
Cal Raleigh (+210)
Cal Raleigh mashed baseballs all year long and has three homers over just 12 at-bats against Kevin Gausman.
The Mariners superstar catcher also hits the splitter well, which is Gausman’s most-used pitch.
