HR picks for July 1
Bryce Harper (+330 at DraftKings)
Yes, Bryce Harper just returned to the Philadelphia Phillies’ lineup on Monday after a long absence due to injury, but he steps into a matchup that heavily plays in his favor offensively tonight. Former Phillies starter Nick Pivetta takes the hill for the San Diego Padres, and Harper has an impressive track record against the Canadian right-hander.
Harper is 4 for 13 lifetime with a pair of home runs. He’s only smacked nine long balls on the year, but we all know that the veteran has ridiculous power. We’re talking about a former MVP who has gone deep 30+ times on five occasions. Harper even had 30 bombs last season.
Harper is hitting .301 at home in 2025 with four homers. There’s no question he’ll be confident with Pivetta on the hill this evening, which is why he's included in my MLB picks for today.
Aaron Judge (+190 at DraftKings)
I know, Aaron Judge is in my picks almost daily at this point. But, can you blame me? He has 30 home runs and he’s hitting .354. While the reigning AL MVP winner failed to leave the ballpark on Monday in a 5-4 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, there’s value in eyeing him with an anytime HR this evening at +190 odds.
The New York Yankees will face Kevin Gausman, who has had issues with the long ball, allowing 12 of them in 16 starts. Judge is 14 for 41 against the righty with six bombs in his career. Those are literally video game numbers. Gausman has given up eight homers at home as well — the Blue Jays are hosting the Yankees in this series.
Judge just had a two-homer day on Sunday against the Athletics, and he’s already smacked one long ball against Toronto this season. Judge’s eyes are going to light up with Gausman on the hill.
Eugenio Suarez (+360 at DraftKings)
Eugenio Suarez cannot be stopped at the moment. He’s gone deep five times in his last nine games and now has 26 long balls on the season. The veteran smacked a home run on Monday evening against the San Francisco Giants. Seventeen of his bombs have come at Chase Field, which is where the Arizona Diamondbacks will play once again tonight.
The third baseman faces Hayden Birdsong tonight, and his track record against him just screams value for this pick. Suarez is 2 for 4 lifetime and guess what? Both hits were home runs. Birdsong has also surrendered four bombs across his last three outings.
Lastly, the majority of Suarez’s power output comes against right-handed hurlers, going deep 20 times. He’s on a roll right now, and Birdsong is struggling to keep opponents in the yard. Suarez has a real chance at hitting No. 27 tonight in the desert.
