Blue Jays Picks, Predictions & Best Bets vs the Astros for September 10

While Tuesday's win was uneven for Toronto, the end result was positive. Tonight, against Astros SP Jason Alexander, it won't take as long for the offense to pay dividends.

What a way to start a series!

The Toronto Blue Jays walked off the Houston Astros in 10 innings, giving themselves a little more breathing room atop the American League East.

While it took Toronto a bit to get the bats going in the opener, my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks explain why we should expect a few more fireworks from the home team on Wednesday, September 10.

Blue Jays predictions for September 10

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Toronto bats wake all the way up

Blue Jays Team Total Over 4.5 (-118 at BetVictor)

It was a game full of highs and lows for the Toronto Blue Jays

Houston Astros starter Luis Garcia left the game after 1 2/3 innings with an apparent elbow injury, and then AJ Blubaugh held the Jays hitless through five innings.

Then, of course, George Springer woke up the offense with another home run, before they tied the game in the ninth and won it in the 10th.

But I’m betting the hits come in bunches tonight.

Not having Bo Bichette obviously hurts this lineup, but this team boasts a ton of depth and leads the majors in batting average, OPS, and wRC+ while having the lowest strikeout rate in the second half. So, if there is a team that can at least survive Bo’s absence, it’s the Blue Jays.

Tonight, they’ll dig into the batter's box against Astros right-hander Jason Alexander. The 32-year-old has bounced back and forth between Houston’s rotation and the bullpen and is making his 10th start of the season.

Alexander ranks in the Bottom 20% among MLB pitchers in expected ERA and opponent expected batting average.

He doesn’t generate a lot of swing-and-miss, and the Jays are an elite contact team, which will result in at least five runs for the home side tonight.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 9.5

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases

George Springer Over 1.5 Total Bases

For this SGP, let’s go with the full-game total. Jose Berrios has been going through a rough patch, and the top half of the Astros lineup, led by Yordan Alvarez, could contribute some runs to the total.

But back to the Blue Jays. Both Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are red hot.

Vladdy is hitting .567 with a 1.473 OPS over the first seven games in September. He’s got six multi-hit games in a row, including five extra-base hits, taking his average up to .304 for the season. While Springer is hitting .323 with a 1.222 OPS over his last eight games, with four home runs.
