HR picks for August 10
Cal Raleigh (+245 at DraftKings)
The Seattle Mariners host the Tampa Bay Rays in the afternoon portion of Sunday’s slate. Sticking with the old adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Cal Raleigh is worth backing in the home run department yet again.
Raleigh has homered in back-to-back games to extend his league lead in home runs to 44. He has been phenomenal this season, ranking in the 95th percentile in expected slugging percentage (xSLG), 88th percentile in average exit velocity, 98th percentile in barrel rate, and 90th percentile in hard-hit rate.
That success is likely to continue against Adrian Houser, who gets the ball for Tampa Bay. Houser ranks in the 14th percentile or lower in expected batting average (xBA), average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate.
Kyle Tucker (+425 at DraftKings)
Sunday Night Baseball features the St. Louis Cardinals hosting the Chicago Cubs. Right-hander Sonny Gray takes the mound for St. Louis and profiles as a strong fade candidate.
Gray has allowed six home runs over his past four starts, with at least one surrendered in each outing. He is 1-2 with a 7.97 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over that stretch.
If anyone on Chicago is likely to keep this streak going, it is Kyle Tucker. Through nine plate appearances against Gray, Tucker boasts a .625 slugging percentage and a .648 expected slugging percentage (xSLG).
Seiya Suzuki (+400 at DraftKings)
Another Cubs hitter to back in this game is Seiya Suzuki. Like Tucker, Suzuki has fared well against Gray.
Through 10 plate appearances against the right-hander, Suzuki sports a .667 slugging percentage and one home run. He also enters this contest in good form, with four hits over his past three games.
Suzuki is slugging .800 with a 1.262 OPS over that stretch. Additionally, one of those four hits was a home run.
