The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Cincinnati Reds tonight for the series opener of a three-game set at Great American Ball Park.
Aaron Civale has been solid since returning from the IL, but my Brewers vs. Reds predictions will dive into why I expect him to keep the defense busy tonight.
I break the matchup down further with my MLB picks for Monday, June 2.
Brewers vs Reds prediction
My Brewers vs Reds best bet: Aaron Civale Under 4.5 strikeouts (-129 at Caesars)
The Milwaukee Brewers have dealt with a lot of pitching injuries this season, with Aaron Civale missing nearly two months with a stint on the IL. But he’s now healthy and throwing the baseball very well. The right-hander has only given up three earned runs in two starts since coming back, cashing the Under in both outings.
Civale allowed just one earned run to the Boston Red Sox last week and surrendered just two before that as well against the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, he’s very much a contact pitcher. In all three starts in 2025, Civale has hit the Under in strikeouts. He had four and three punchouts, respectively, in his last two outings.
When it comes to facing the Cincinnati Reds, Civale has held this lineup to a mere .208 average across 24 at-bats with only five Ks during that span.
Even though the Reds are top five in the Majors in strikeouts, Civale doesn’t miss a lot of bats. I do think he’ll pitch well, but Civale just won’t rack up the Ks.
Caesars QuickPick: Our Brewers vs Reds same-game parlay (SGP)
Sal Frelick continues to have success at the dish for the Brewers, hitting .292 with three home runs and 20 RBIs. The 25-year-old batted .284 in May and has cashed the Over in hits in seven of his last eight games.
Frelick’s hit streak came to an end on Sunday against the Phillies, but there’s reason to believe he could make some noise tonight. Frelick is 3 for 6 lifetime against Reds starter Brady Singer, who counters Civale here. Frelick had three multi-hit games in a row before going 0 of 4 against the Phils.
The Brew Crew has gone 6-2 in their last eight games against Cincinnati and already took three out of four from them at the beginning of the campaign. Milwaukee has also won seven in a row and just put up 17 runs on Philadelphia.
Milwaukee is arguably playing its best baseball of the year at the moment, and they’ve hit the moneyline in 11 of their last 14 games. The Reds have lost three of their last four contests. A lot is going in the Brewers’ favor tonight.
