The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs will wrap up their abbreviated National League Central series with an afternoon tilt at Wrigley Field.

Chicago won the series opener Tuesday to take four of the first five meetings against Milwaukee, and my Brewers vs. Cubs predictions expect Jameson Taillon to lead the way in making it five of six.

Brewers vs Cubs prediction

My Brewers vs Cubs best bet: Cubs moneyline (-122 at Pinnacle)

The Chicago Cubs are 24-12 at Wrigley Field, and starter Jameson Taillon has won five straight while boasting a 1.91 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. He’s also been money at home for the North Siders, sporting a 3.19 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 211 2/3 innings since joining the club.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee Brewers starter Freddy Peralta has outpitched his underlying numbers, with his 2.60 ERA well below his 4.07 xFIP. Additionally, the veteran righty hasn’t been as sharp on the road, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 4.34 xFIP compared to respective 1.32, 0.90, and 3.80 marks at American Family Field.

Chicago has also been excellent against right-handed pitchers this season, with a sixth-ranked wOBA and ISO, and the Cubs also have the eighth-lowest strikeout percentage.

It’s been a different story for the Brew Crew, as Milwaukee heads to Wrigley ranked 25th in wOBA and ISO against right-handed arms.

Brewers vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)

Cubs moneyline

Under 8.5

Freddy Peralta Under 5.5 strikeouts

Even with the highlighted negative regression looming for Peralta, I still anticipate him keeping the Chicago bats largely off balance for the bulk of his start, while Taillon continues his strong stretch against the lackluster Milwaukee lineup.

Plus, the Under has hit in 32 of the past 52 games for Milwaukee (+9.85 Units / 25% ROI), and Chicago has also played to the Under in 15 of its past 20 (+9.60 Units / 16% ROI).

As noted, Chicago doesn’t strike out often against righties, and Peralta has averaged 99 pitches across his past five starts. I’m expecting the long outings to catch up with him this afternoon.
