Blue Jays predictions for September 26

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Might as well be Springer

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases (-111 at BetVictor)

It’s been the “Summer of George,” but the Toronto Blue Jays will need George Springer's bat to stay hot through the fall if they want to make a run in October.

Springer has been their best hitter all season long, leading the team in home runs and runs scored. He is even more dangerous at Rogers Centre, where he has a .986 OPS while averaging 2.01 total bases.

Springer’s posted total tonight is set at 1.5. I expect him to go Over that total tonight with sinker-baller Adrian Houser on the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays starter has struggled in September, posting a 4.44 ERA through four starts. His xERA is also north of 4.00, and he ranks in the 23rd percentile in xBA.

Houser’s most used pitch this season is the sinker, which has a usage rate of 46%. Springer has been deadly against the sinker this season, sporting a .378 average against that pitch with a .678 expected SLG.

Houser has also been hit hard and often this season, ranking in the sixth percentile in hard-hit rate.

All of this gives Springer even more of an edge to surpass his bases prop for the seventh time in his last 12 games, as the matchup suggests he should either get a hit for extra bases or have another multi-hit night.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

George Springer Over 1.5 total bases

George Springer Over 0.5 runs

Daulton Varsho Over 1.5 total bases

The Rays have averaged 5.5 runs against over their last six games. Springer leads the Jays with 102 runs scored, with 50 runs scored since the All-Star break, the fourth-most in the majors.

Daulton Varsho has been able to hit righties extremely hard this season with a .613 SLG, with 30 of his 31 extra base hits coming against RHP.
