Well, I guess the Toronto Blue Jays couldn’t win every series for the remainder of the season. But my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks are betting their bats bounce back as they return home to open a three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Toronto gets a juicy matchup against Arizona’s Brandon Pfaadt on Tuesday, June 17.

Blue Jays predictions for June 17

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Pfaadt gets chewed up

Brandon Pfaadt Over 2.5 earned runs allowed (-118 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off getting swept by the Philadelphia Phillies to end a long nine-game road trip. But the trip still ended with a 5-4 record, and overall, the Jays have to be happy with their approach at the plate lately.

Even with the sweep, where they ran into some strong pitching, the Jays still enter this series against the Arizona Diamondbacks leading the big leagues in batting average. They are also second in OPS and third in wRC+ dating back to May 29.

Those bats should play in this series against a D-backs pitching staff that is struggling to get outs. Arizona has the sixth-worst team ERA this season. Obviously, losing Corbin Burnes hurts, but I’m not sure many expected them to struggle this much even with that injury.

To the Jays’ benefit, the D-backs don’t have a lot of options, which is why they’ll continue to hand the ball to Brandon Pfaadt.

To say the 26-year-old right-hander is struggling would be an understatement. Pfaadt grades out as one of the worst pitchers in baseball. He ranks in the first percentile in expected ERA, expected batting average, average exit velocity, and hard-hit percentage.

It’s been a particularly tough go for him recently. Pfaadt has surrendered a whopping 18 runs on 21 hits over his last three starts.

So, it should come as no surprise I’m targeting Pfaadt’s earned runs prop today. It’s sitting at 2.5. He’s given up three or more earned runs in six of his last eight starts. Give me the Blue Jays bat to get back on track tonight, and send Pfaadt Over this number once again.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Brandon Pfaadt Over 2.5 earned runs allowwd

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Alejandro Kirk Over 1.5 total bases

So, who is going to contribute to the damage done to Brandon Pfaadt? Why, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Alejandro Kirk, of course.

Vladdy has quietly had four multi-hit games over his last seven games, and his natural power should play very well against a guy like Pfaadt.

Meanwhile, Kirk continues to be one of the hottest hitters in baseball. Even the best pitchers can’t miss his bat right now, and Pfaadt is one of the worst.

Kirk enters this game with a .404 batting average and a 1.014 OPS over his last 14 games. Let’s add Over 1.5 total bases for both of these Blue Jays sluggers.
