Sydney Sweeney and Novig are showing it all this week. The prediction market enlisted the help of the movie star to promote its sports-focused platform to kick off the NFL season with a spicy video.

New users who download Novig will only find sports prediction markets, and none related to politics, finance, pop culture, or any other industry.
New Novig customers can use Novig promo code COVERS to get $25 in trading credits after submitting a minimum $10 deposit.
Novig shared a new video ad starring Sweeney in a post on X on Wednesday morning.
“Confirmed: Sydney Sweeney knows ball,” the post read.

The ad features Sweeney provocatively highlighting different sports that are available for trading at Novig, using a variety of sports gear and equipment.
“Novig is just sports,” Sweeney said. “So they wanted to highlight just sports.”
Notably, Sweeney says there is “no betting on wars, or death, and no politics” allowed at Novig. Competing platforms offer and have also come under fire for these prediction markets.
Novig is legal in every state except for Arizona, Michigan, and Nevada.

Novig making a name
Novig launched prediction markets nationwide on Aug. 4. The company made its debut in 2021 as a state-licensed sports betting app and later adopted a sweepstakes model approach before pivoting to prediction markets.
The company has already made a splash in a short time. It became the first prediction operator to partner with an MLB team, the New York Mets, in July. Competitors Polymarket and Kalshi signed MLB partners shortly thereafter.
Novig was also quick to find success with contract trading. Eilers & Krejcik Gaming analyst Brad Allen reported that it processed an average of about $21 million daily shortly after its launch, with a single-day peak of $26.3 million during its first week of operation.
The platform also handled an average of $23.3 million per day during the week ending on Aug. 23, ahead of Robinhood-backed Rothera ($18 million), Underdog ($16 million), ProphetX ($5.8 million), CME Group ($3.3 million), Gemini ($1.4 million) and DraftKings’ DKeX ($1.1 million).
Novig fighting prediction market regulation
While Novig is off to a promising start, it also isn’t wasting any time on the legal front.
The platform filed preemptive lawsuits against four state enforcement agencies within its first week post-launch. It added another lawsuit in Wisconsin in mid-August as scrutiny of prediction market regulation continues to mount.
Despite the platform’s efforts, state officials, prediction market operators, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission remain on completely separate pages. New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport called on the U.S. Supreme Court to resolve the disagreements in a press release shared at the beginning of September.
