The NBA and NHL will begin looking towards the future in June when both leagues host their annual entry drafts.
The NBA gets the party started on June 25 in Brooklyn, and there's absolutely, positively zero doubt over which prospect will have his name called first by Adam Silver. Duke phenom Cooper Flagg has been a -6600 favorite for months thanks to the remarkable skill and motor he displayed during his freshman year at Durham. The do-everything forward was the National College Player of the Year and could be the missing piece that propels the Dallas Mavericks back to the NBA Finals.
Although Flagg is destined to be chosen first, there are plenty of fabulous consolation prizes in this year's draft including Rutgers teammates Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. Both players figure to be Top 5 picks and, with any luck, future All-Stars.
Hockey fans shouldn't expect much drama at the top of the NHL Draft either, as Erie Otters sensation Matthew Schaefer is widely expected to go first to the New York Islanders. The 17-year-old defenseman notched 22 points in 17 games in the OHL and has the size and skill to be an elite player for years to come.
The NBA and NHL drafts aren't the only must-see events in June. Sports fans can also look forward to the Belmont Stakes, the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, and the return of the CFL.
