My Breeders' Cup predictions are always looking to beat the favorite in the Breeders' Cup odds, but there's no value in a losing ticket.

Case-in-point the Mile and the Classic, where Notable Speech and Forever Young figure to win their respective divisions for a second straight year.

See how my free picks are creating value underneath instead on Saturday, Oct. 31, as we carry on from our Breeders' Cup picks for Friday.

Odds as of 10-31.

Win pick: Notable Speech

No. 8 Notable Speech (7-5, morning-line favorite) is 3-for-5 in 2026 as he seeks a Mile title defense. His Queen Anne flop at Royal Ascot surprised, but his lone other loss can easily be explained away, as he was mired in traffic in the Maker's Mark Mile back in April.

His Woodbine Mile win was fairly effortless, and a repeat of either of his other two victories from this year would blow the competition out of the water.

Place pick: Lake Forest

No. 2 Lake Forest (6-1) is a surprising second-choice to me. I expect he'll drift up with either of the Aidan O'Brien runners — Puerto Rico and True Love — taking more interest.

Lake Forest lost to Rhetorical in the Coolmore Turf Mile last time out, but he never looked comfortable in tight quarters in the stretch. This son of No Nay Never has already lost once to Notable Speech overseas, but boasts a strong Group II win.

Show pick: Deterministic

No. 1 Deterministic (8-1) had a six-race win streak, all graded stakes, stopped in the Woodbine Mile by Notable Speech. He is as consistent as they get and is America's best hope at hitting the board in this one.

Deterministic should be on or near a pace that is honest, but not especially fast.

Best bet: $10 exacta 8/1,2 ($20)

Breeders' Cup Classic odds, prediction and best bet

  • Race: Keeneland Race 12
  • Post time: 6:16 p.m. ET
  • TV: NBC, Peacock, FanDuel TV
Post Horse FanDuel
1 T O Password +3000
2 Sovereignty +250
3 Golden Tempo +500
4 The Puma +1000
5 Forever Young +200
6 Magnitude OTB
7 Knightsbridge +450
8 Napoleon Solo +1500

Odds as of 10-31.

Win pick: Forever Young

No. 5 Forever Young (2-1, morning-line favorite) is the defending champion of this race and has been in fine form at age five, going 2-for-3 with wins in the Saudi Cup and Jockey Club Gold Cup. His lone loss came to Magnitude in the Dubai World Cup by a diminishing length.

Forever Young's only two defeats since December of 2024 have come in Dubai; he's 6-for-6 everywhere else in that span, all Grade/Group I events.

Place pick: The Puma

Blinkers added did the trick for No. 4 The Puma (10-1) in the Pennsylvania Derby when last seen, as he finally got his first win since breaking his maiden in the Tampa Bay Derby.

With a bullet work at Keeneland to boast, The Puma appeals at 10-1.

Place pick: Napoleon Solo

With No. 6 Magnitude scratching out, that increases the chances No. 8 Napoleon Solo (15-1) flaunts his speed in the Classic.

He's a dangerous frontrunning type who hasn't missed the exacta in three straight, including his Preakness Stakes score.

Best bet: $10 exacta 5/4, 8 ($20)
